Sure. I'm not sure where I'm going with them yet. I was going to use the carbon/kevlar on my dash but it would have turned out ugly so I had to use it for something... My glasswork was pretty bad in this area so I figured this would be easier than trying to turf. Plus I didn't really want turf on the inside wall. Anyways, here are the pix.

wf, when you remove the tape won't it screw up the cut?

plain weave is much easier to work with but twill looks better and provide better structural characteristics

To keep the carbon from fraying, use a piece of tape at the line you want to cut and porceed to cut on the tape. This method will prevent the carbon from coming apart

Excellent DIY tech tip...thanks Steve!!!!

When do you pull the tape off? Do you do it right away or wait until the resin is set up?

There was another thread on the subject a couple weeks ago. Some folks talked about grinding down your scissors. I snuck a pair of my wife's $20 shears...

steve, when and how do you pull the tape off so it does not peel the strands with it?

I just cut mine with a real sharp pair of scissors. If you are doing a finished area/exsposed then it's tricky. You have to "finish" off the edges after the coat(s) of resin have hardened. I actually used tape on the hull as a containment device and built up the resin on the edges to get a good build up. I did no finish sanding. You just have to be real careful when you are moving it and going to lay it up. Take your time and remember it will show if you rushed.

That's what I used around my footwells in my previous pics. They were supposed to be orange/black but it was more of a red :dunno:. I couldn't keep a straight line at the time but maybe if I tried the tape method...
