I will second the post about sewing around the edges,I have an industrial sewing machine though so that makes it much easier

anything with Kevlar is giong to be harder to cut. kevlar shears are $90 or so

anything with kevlar is also going to be harder to sand/grind because of the kevlar fibers - so lay it down right as you can't grind it down like you can with glass.

I'll disagree here, based on a bit of experience. Yes, Kevlar is a lot tougher to cut. But I have been using heavy duty scissors from Michael's for almost two years now, without a hitch.

I'm going by what I was told - but then I think we were talking about straight kevlar - not the kevlar/carbon weaves.

I read somewhere that the kevlar c/f blend isnt as strong as pure c/f cloth when it comes to impacts. It has better stretching strength, but the impact will break the cf and not he kevlar. The article said that the kevlar doesnt bond to the epoxy resin and just kind of hangs out not providing much strength. Not sure if this is true, but the example they provided stated an indy car that had hit a wall. The body was made out of cf/kevlar blend and where the body was broken there were long strands of kevlar hangin off looking like they had never really been bonded to the c/f cloth when it was made. Not sure if this is true or not, but I figured I would comment incase someone knows more about it.

the carbon kevlar isnt really gong to give you that much strength anyway......unless its vacuum bagged

it does give a little support, but not near what it would with a vacuum system.......its mostly for looks

If it is vacuum bagged then will it give more strength than pure C/F cloth? I am looking at building a carbon fiber hull in the near future and if the Kevlar blend is stronger then that would be better. What weight cloth should I use to build the hull with. I will be using a hull mold and vacuum bagging the hull half's to keep the weight down.

Thanks
