Caution!

I have always registered when they were busy and they didn't look real close at anything.

I "forgot" to put my HIN on my ski after my build and they never checked last year.

If you can't ride at Jetski Zone the beach, there are several other spots to ride that are pretty close by....if the locals want to share where they are. :shhh:

how close do they look at fire extinguishers? mine is pretty rough, definitely does not work.

should I run with it, or should I plan on borrowing for inspection?

they look at them very closely! buy a new one just in case....

then let me borrow it when i take my ski for inspection.

I do not get it. Why wait until now. What have people been doing where they normally ride? Just taking a chance??? All ski's should be registered, have their HIN numbers attached. Fire Extinguishers ETC...... There is not a ticket less than $100.00 here. It is not worth taking the chance.

The problem is that there is not a uniform title/registration process in all of the 50 states.
Georgia, for example, is a title-less or title-free, state, as are some others.
Florida, on the other hand, is very strict and a title state for all watercraft.
IMO, with an event like this where riders bring skis from probably 40+ states, the authorities need to take all of that into consideration and act accordingly. Common sense, and the ability to collect visitor revenue, should be paramount for an event like this.
However, it appears it's not....
My ski is registered in my wifes name with our Florida registration. However, she will not be here and my drivers license is Wisconsin and NOT the address that is on the title and registration.
It'll be great if I get to drive 5 hours and spend $180 for hotel and $125 for gas to sit and watch (which I wont) because some beach patrol clown wont use common sense.

Alabama is a Title-less state. I have a drivers license and the Tag (Sticker) Registration papers. That is all that is needed. Along with the proper HIN numbers.

Speak up ,don't kiss azz
You don't need a title in Mass either ,just a reg and HIN numbers and your license and we had zero problems 4 years running .Some peeps must be spoiled where they ride because most of us need that stuff everyday just to ride our spots .

I think 6 of us used the same fire extinguisher for inspection last year .:dunno:

It does not matter if your from a title-less state, you are still required to have valid HIN numbers on the ski.

That has been a Federal Regulation since 1972, and enforced by the USCG.

Home-built or Custom hulls still require a valid HIN.

I forget who told me this, I think it was a water cop, but demonstration skis and competition skis can only be used in sanctioned events.

Otherwise, technically, the ski has to follow by the "standard" or "regular" rules.

So I will have to rig up a lanyard that looks legit and borrow a fire extinguisher.

I got my SJ passed without a laynard, just wrap one around the bars in case they look.

Guess I should get my WCF ski on track here. I never installed my HINs because I never thought it would be a problem. I haven't been pulled by the water po-po in over two years (ya' gotta' ride more to get pulled )

Can I just wedge an extinguisher in there or do they check to see if it is secured? I'm not sure mine works either, I'll have to check tomorrow. Anybody got an extra who will be at the freeride clinic Friday?
