Some paint prep and primer shots. Had some learning curve with the paint and gun. A few drip areas where the clear got too heavy but nothing some graphics won't cover up in the future. Was planning on going all white, but when I ran out of paint I thought I might as well give the bottom a little color since I was buying another quart. Turf and re-assembly next.

Started on the turf. Made the mistake of using welwood green can contact cement on the pancake Pete and the left gunwale. It was not sticking down well at all unless I heated the glue up to become tacky. I finally ripped those pieces off after reading to use the red can. Thankfully I bought a large sheet of turf. I just have the rails to do still.

getting closer

a couple of progress updates. Turfed rails and installed SJ gas tank. Installed stator, bendix and flywheel. It's starting to come together. Waiting for motor shims and need to make an ebox gasket.

Electrical frustration hitting it's peak! got the Engine in and thought I'd do a quick electrical test to make sure it was turning over. Hit the switch and got nothing. so started working backwards and checking continuity. A couple of the lines from the stator I found I had nothing, after further inspection the wires were crap it's like this electrical system was submerged in salt water for a year. Plus found about 5 splices wrapped in electrical tape using a common wire nut or non insulated connector. I will not purchase from this X member again. I replace those wires and fed back into the wire harness, still nothing. Ahhhh blown fuse, replaced it.... blown fuse immediately again. :censored: :banghead:

must have a short somewhere, start searching and digging around, unhooking all the wires, more continuity checking. I tried running a jumper across the fuse real quick and saw smoke, so disconnected right away. Finally found the wires leading into the rectifier were all fused together and just taped over. What a crap set up I bought. Not sure if it is worth finding another rectifier or I should just scrap the whole system and start over and purchase another one. Very frustrating, was trying to hit the water this weekend. I'll update when I get it fixed, just had to vent!!!!!!!

So just pulled out my b pipe chamber which I was told was an fx1 when i bought it and now realize it is a limited. This end to the build is not going well. I'm sure I can persuade it in with a big enough hammer but it's one more problem and one more mislead sale.

More insult to injury. Not only is the factory chamber not an fx1 but it's not even for a 701. It's the 650 chamber.

Any thoughts on how that smaller chamber will be on a 760?

My hood was all flared out and did not fit into the channel so I clamped it down and shoved it in the oven for a short spell. Hopefully the memory will be retained long term.

Maiden voyage today, only got about 2 gallons through it and I think I lost compression in one of the cylinders. So back to dry land and I'll probably pull the head tomorrow to see what I can see.

Spent most of the time trying to dial in the low end then it just gave out. Power seemed pretty amazing but it was having a little trouble hooking up

Thanks Eddie, hope my old ski is treating you better.

While removing my tank to get the engine out I found I had a crack in the tank and was losing gas into the engine compartment. Glad I found that now. Engine being shipped out for repair today.

Going back to the builder to get rectified. It is all good or will be shortly anyway. Can't wait to get back out
