I just picked up this 2005 CRF450X for $3600. The guy I bought it said he only rode it 8 or 9 times. He was a super anal dude and by the condition of the bike I believe him, theres almost zero scratches from "Normal" use at all. This is the one with electric start and I'm a beginer in MX so this bike is perfect for me. I'm pretty stoked

Open that bike up, and feel some fun power. There are many ways to unlock the real potential of that X. Check out this site.

And don't be afraid to hit the dunes. Just do good maintenance and there's nothing to be scared about. That sand actually polishes rims and alum. frames. Just make sure you clean your air filter well and often.

That's REKLUSE, and they are magic. I have them on a 450R a 250R and a 150RB. We pretty much strictly race MX, but on the trails they work just as well, that's were they were designed for. Most all the top endurocross guys are running them. As far as engine braking, it's still there if you keep on the throttle enough to keep the centrifugal clutch engaged. Helps to keep the momentum up and overall keeps you moving faster. If you want to stop, that's what brakes are for.

That's what I want to do. My friend has a KTM 450 that si street legal but for what he paid... I don't want to ride "that" bad...

Shawn, buy the bigger bike, you will always want it regardless. You just may drop ti over a few hundered more times until you get better. I bought a YZ250 years back when I thought i couldn't handle a 125. Then after a few months on the 250, I was like "I want a 500!" So when I get a street bike finally... it will be a 1000!
