Chop shop time.

When I get my pistons, I'll check my crank and stroke to make sure nothing is tweeked and give it it's final polish. I still have to polish my reeds and might be getting an R&D 61X dual carb intake so I can run 2x 44mm carbs on this motor. If anyone has one for sale, let me know.

Damn! I spent all that time and did it wrong lol. I should have done that to the exhaust. Do you guys think that I should port it? If so how much?

You could port match to the gaskets. My xscream porting is rough all the way till the exhaust ports, smooth their and threw the exhaust manifold.

@yamanube sells porting templates.

Stick with the single 44 or spend your money on a 46mm carb(220$ on amazon) and call it good.

Chase and clean all the threads. Should be able to screw them all in until they bottom out by hand.
When you put the crank in make sure you put the seals in the correct direction. I also put a little grease inside the seal where the crank slides in.
Use yamabond 1211 or something similar to seal the cases.
Shave the head a little for more compression 180psi is ideal
check your ring gap before installing the pistons.
Use a torque wrench

Read this 4-5 times and then check the pictures and make sure your seals are facing the correct direction. :)

Thanks man. I ordered the port sleeve and will do it when it comes it. I ported the exhaust to the size of my B-pipe manifold and will do the clylinder when the sleeve comes it

Also I have a ADA gridless head with 33mm and 35mm domes. I'm not sure what I'll run with this 735cc. I was going to try the 33mm and see the compression and if it's too much, swap them to the 35mm until I can run pump gas (91 - 94)

If you are only doing wot for a second a time 33 will be fine. But if you want to open her up and hold wot to chase down a boat etc go with 35's.

So I had to leave the gf to focus on more important things in life like my jet ski. I did the final cutting today, just need to smoothen and shake it a bit more. I saw this shape on another ski and I really liked it so I stole the idea. I figured that I could shave some weight at the same time with it. Off to glassing I go!72ED3144-35B8-4666-8B49-A166BA901B8F.jpeg

well seeing how I’m going to try and run 2x 46mm or a single 48mm, I’m sure it will be sooner then later when I’m dumping 1/4 of a gal of fuel every time hit it. Did I mention that my 735 has 35mm domes? lol. I’ll be sure to have a go pro and a good life jacket on when I go out on it to share the end result.

Motor building Monday started off decent and then I ran into this....
624A658C-0064-4D72-8A09-1BA17B52B4A7.jpegAnyone have a secret to pulling that annoying mangled screw out?

So I decided to skip that and to start installing the new pistons and crank. BB8CE277-3BF8-4AA1-8217-B8BBD69E7792.jpeg876F5135-C55E-4CE5-8453-D86E9FDF032F.jpeg
I mic’d The crank and then I ran into the problem of the crank being 4 thou of an inch out. Anyone out there know if I can still use it without it going bang on my first run? Can you get crank shafts like these straightened?

I’m going to enjoy cutting into this thing tomorrow seeing how much trouble it’s been giving me lol

The screws are soft metal, just carefully drill the head of the screw until it breaks off...than remove plate and use some needle nose to twist out the rest of it. This has always worked for me, haven’t ran into a seized screw yet.

Thanks for the advice but I was talking about cutting the porting templates lol. I’m going the DIY port job and I’m “ cutting into the head”. Sorry I should have been more clearer lol. The screws that you see are just dowels I made to port Match my B-pipe and cylinder

I think he was talking about removing the damaged carb screw.
