Chop shop time.

So I had a little set back but I’m back on track now. I got my power plant back together!!! I used the DIY port kit that I bought off of a member on XH2O. It came out really nice! I put in some cross hatches, slapped 2x 83mm Pro X pistons, trued the crank down to 0.00 out run, replaced a few bearings on the crank and slapped it all together

lol I’m trying. I want to be out before the water gets warm.

Question for you guys and girls, 735cc, what should I run for domes? I have 33mm in right now but I have 35mm sitting in my trunk. Should I swap them out? I’m not going to run this full open to chase boats so I know that I’m ok with that but is there a noticeable gain from 35mm to 33mm?

So I’m still alive and still building. I have some set backs with life and work getting in the way. Here’s my custom pole with my thrust quick steer system and RRP riser bars. I did some modding to the poles on top of the previous cutting and shortening..

Got to glass it, paint, and make a custom chin pad. More to come

I need some help from you experts out there. I did a compression bench test on my motor finally and I’m sooo damn pumped about the results..

With this much compression though, what should I run for my fuel octane and what should be my oil to fuel ratio? What kind of oil should I use?

I made some more progress today. Hopefully it doesn’t storm tomorrow like it said so I can start doing the final shaping and the finer glass work.F3C4B85D-0D57-46D3-80EA-25A2871FBBD4.jpeg7A653765-EE05-4875-9ED9-7A68FBE61486.jpeg428729FB-CC96-4F0A-A306-57B00BE9EC32.jpeg25E50071-5421-4225-8F1E-EF7A01E881FA.jpegE04C75A4-28BD-4387-B7D7-F14B6F0F650C.jpeg6BFB73F4-C633-429B-B2CE-CF73240D9526.jpeg

I also made a bit of a hack for a cheap trim kit. I’ll have to post it after I’m done this but I think I’ve got almost as much as a thrust trim when it comes the angle. Am I wrong?908680EB-4396-4314-9CC6-01B054EA2C90.jpegD445B180-D6A9-4EBA-A3B4-F2EA73DC8D45.png

Made any progress
Unfortunately no. I threw out my shoulders at work so I had to halt the build for a little bit. Also the weathers been crazy out here so that stopped me as well. I might try and put some glass down tonight when I get home from work. Maybe try and get the nose and pole done today. And if it’s nice tomorrow, I’ll get the tray done.

I did make a deal with my buddy today, if I go and check out the 1980’s Toyota RV with him and make sure it wasn’t junk before he bought it, that he would come and help me do some glass work. so Since my shoulders are screwed, here’s my buddies first coat while I drink and supervise

Tomorrow I’m suppose to provide the pizza and beer and he’s going to help me do some more

Lady’s and gentleman… the long wait is over. The project is back on the agenda. It’s only been 5 years since I started this thing but 2 wife’s and 1 kid later and we are back on track. I decided to defoam the tray and try the pingpong ball method. So far, we are at 100 balls. A9DC2D01-B94C-46F2-B136-DA1FCC4F23AF.jpeg176A0363-4B78-4F6B-ADE1-132B5B85EBA0.jpeg

Also started to finish up the hood. Tomorrow is suppose to be a crappy weather day, so I hope to have all the glass work done before Tuesday

Did some quick and poopty glass work. Going to grind it down and redo it next week hopefully. Had to order more pingpong balls. For anyone wanting to do this, I’m at 300 balls. Ill let you know how many it will take to fill it

Looking good! But I dont think ping pong balls work. Joey from Hi speed did ping pong balls and his ski still sank to the bottom of the ocean. (has a build thread and sink thread on here somewhere) You might try and fill the gaps between the balls with 2part foam or EPS beads. https://www.x-h2o.com/threads/spex-lite-epp-beads-for-refoaming.207313/
I’m going to give it a try and if anything I’ll drill holes and fill it with foam. I’ve got a kid on the way and no time to wait for foam to come in lol

Thank you Amazon for making my poor decisions so easy to execute lol. I’ll give the total pingpong ball count at the end of the build.

I did some terrible glass work but it’s ok for now. I’ll cover all the sins with matting in the tray and I’m planning on doing a wrap over the rest of the ski.
