Other Cold Water Riding

Coldest day ive ever rode was new years 2 years ago in the Niagara River. Just finished the ski and had to test her before the trip to daytona.

We ended up sledding my ski into the water since my car would not make it through the snow at the boat launch. Getting it out was horrible

Excerpt:
First and foremost, the internal temperatures that the piston crown is exposed to at full load are on the order of 800°F - 1100°F. The gases passing through the exhaust manifold ports is also in this 800° -1100°F temperature range. The expansion rate caused by these temperatures is usually not a problem when the water entering the exhaust manifold is being preheated by the very hot exhaust port passages. However in the first 30 - 50 seconds of operation, these internal exhaust ports have not yet absorbed the heat that's needed to properly pre heat the cold incoming water. During the first 30 operating seconds, this cold incoming water will briefly maintain the water jacket around the cylinder at "stone cold diameter" while the piston is becoming "full temperature diameter". On engines with properly sized pistons, the difference in these diameters becomes much more than even the best oils can withstand. Any engine that has been warmed up for 60 seconds or longer, would be virtually incapable of a "cold seizure"

i love americians, the further you go south the nicer the people are, us canadians get excited for a long weekend which is this weekend, its going to cold 55-60 degress and rainy and we are all going camping and jet sking you guys would be freezing

I like Americans too. I lived in Naples for a few years. I never did get up to Daytona to see yamaslut do his back flips.

Anyway, what about jetting?

Wouldn't a ski that is jetted for 80 degrees (25 celsius) run awfully lean near the freezing point?

Would a quarter turn out on the high or low speed screws be in order?

My friend and are are going riding tomorrow am im guessing the water temp is going to be about 32, Im putting 2 wet suits on with gloves and boots! How will this affect how the skis run and whats the coldest you guys have run?

HOLLY poop!!! Mid May and the water is 32 degrees??? Time to put your place up for sale and find a moving van. I guess the higher cost of living in (going bankrupt) California is worth it.

originally from Maine so i know what its like...that being said if i still lived in Maine i doubt i would have the 7 jet skis i do now...but id have a couple of bad ass sleds i can guarantee that :)

Awesome. You guys are a bunch of Loonies and Toonies. What is everyone doing to keep their feet from freezing and falling off?

My favorite thing about Canada is that when everyone in ND turned 18, they'd rush over the border to Winnipeg to the "clubs" and toss toonies to the "entertainers". Back then we could get a loonie for like 67 cents!

Nice vids. Keep riding!
