Riva pipe had best speed by one tenth of a mph on radar
Protec threatened to pull all there advertising and protested tnt pipe being in shoot out.
Factory pipe in turn countered and said they pull there advertising if they didn't allow.
It was quite interesting week
 
Has there ever been a dry pipe shootout? I'd like to see how the Speedwerx pipes compared in all ranges to the others. I have been wondering too why the Speedwerx pipes didn't claim a foothold in the market. Everyone that has or had one said as far as dry pipes are concerned, the SW pipe was the pipe to have. Was it just limited production run that ended them? Or were they more of a trend that eventually "dried out" ...pun intended hehehe :D

I have had excellent results with the Riva red. Few simple mods and it can and will RUN with any wet pipe including RD wet on a spec level 701 motor. One thing I will say is the cast pipe has a different tone that may feel less racier than the RD thin chamber or the FP mod. But it's all there

Speedwerx was the DRY Pipe to have in 2000-2002 era. The type 9 came at the end of the superjet twin dominance era. (Enter SXR). Your answer I think is many people who raced SJ's either quit or jumped shipped in 03' to the SXR. Honestly many quit

Also - the Speedwerx along with most pipes in that era (pre mid 2002) where made from 3000 series aluminum (I believe) and were thick (heavy) With the Type 9, Octane, and then the SXR pipe I believe 5000 series aluminum was used. "thinner thus much lighter"

Always liked the idea of the r&d pipe with no Lord mount attached to the head. Finally got a hold of one this year, we'll see how well it works.

Finally got enough ride time to get my ski somewhat dialed in with r&d rev2 pipe. Just a basic limited motor 0.5 overbore, pipe, head, enhancer.

You definitely need water injection on this pipe. Almost as responsive as a b pipe but with a more linear power band.

Overall I was surprised the pipe worked well on a mild set up, as the rev2 was designed for lamey cylinders and superstocks. It is without question a veteran rider/mechanic's pipe, nothing recreational about it. B pipe is still king for surf riding and simplicity.

Next up I might try and dent a c4 chamber to fit in a super jet and try that one out.

I was able to fit the blaster mod pipe into my SJ without a dent.

I wish I had it that easy. This one is so far from fitting I've been hesitant to dent it up far enough to let it fit. Would probably fit better in 08+ hull

I'd love to try some of those other exhausts, I got into the sport back when there were no a/m hulls and we drooled over race pipes and lowered hoods/nose.

Also do you think it would be worth trying a set of Novi 48s on my current limited setup? Was going to wait to use them on my ported 735 which is almost ready to drop in.

Yes ribs are gone. I mocked up the c4 and. Mod chambers one time on the bench and tried to measure overall width of motor/exh at widest point. The c4 was about 1.5" wider than the mod. I could see denting maybe 1/2" in, but over an inch seems excessive. May have to just sell it and try another
 
I tested the MOD pipe....on a stock spec level ski. Didn't work as well as the B-mod chamber or the C4 (TNT)

Stock spec is wetpipe. RD wetpipe (same as dry without jacket) Riva Red and Protec Mach 2 tested well
