i wouldnt think so unless the handle pole is sitting down on the hood.
thats the only time i could see the issue coming up.
we finally got our order in from u.s. composites.
its cold as a mofo outside so we didnt get too much done.
buuut we did get the first layer on the nose and hood done

ha i think ill have to come up with a name for this thing after its finished.
something catchy and odd at the same time and'll make someone go :261:
but this thing is going to be a head turner when i get done.
the paint job on this thing will look sick!
anyways.
thanks for the encouragement! im hoping ill have this in the rough stages of glassing soon. this was only the first layer so there is much much more to come.
ill keep you all up to date with pictures and any info ive got! :Banane37:

How did the resin react to that foam? I would think that since it is a low density foam, the resin would have melted right through it...

Not sure if its the camera angle, but in a few pictures I noticed that the nose kinda bumps up and it does not look (from what I am seeing) that the nose is flush with the hood lines.

Other then that, it looks awesome!

we used slow hardener on it and weve used it on this stuff before and have never had any problems with the foam melting or getting deformed. it does soak up some of the resin as your laying the glass, but you would most likely get that with any foam

and the lines on the hood do not match up, yet.

i plan on raising the hood towards the front so i get a nice smooth transition from the hood to the nose.

also this was just the "rough" layout. once we get the glass laid and i have more definite lines (because on the foam it is nearly impossible to see all the imperfections) ill be able to sand out any high spots and fill in the low spots, as well as get the final shape im looking to get.

im attempting to get the lines on the hood to transition onto the nose kind of like how it does on the roundnose, but as of right now ive been having some issues accomplishing that. but ill just keep working and working on this thing till it looks killer :headbang:

anyways, ill get more progress pictures up tonight most likely. im planning on laying the glass down on the gunwales and laying more layers on the hood and nose.

thanks for all the kind words guys. its really appreciated. :bigok:

today i came home from school, cleaned out the garage, and got going on this thing again.

i only got a little more done before i had to stop so i can get to work on time.

but i did get the gunwales glassed and put a few more layers where they were needed.

over winter break this thing should really start to take shape :bigok:

heres some pictures of the glassed gunwales and the hood off of the ski.
and these are all in the first stages so they arent pretty. atleast not yet

well we brought this thing back into the work realm this past week. Weve gotten alot more progress done. Will post some more pictures when i make it home. the nose and hood have taken alot more shape as we started laying filler. also, the nose bond rail is taking shape as well. hoping to have this thing done for the 09 lonestar freeride!

worked more on reinforcement tonight. it doesnt look very different but we've been shaping alot more. laid 2 layers of 18 oz glass on tray bottom and sides, and the bottom of the engine bay. also laid a few on the nose where handlepole mounts. Its coming along nicely so far. still alot more to come! next up is finishing up the hood, its far from done. and laying reinforcement on the sides of the engine bay.

enjoy! :cheer:
