BAM hulls are great all around hulls. I was able to start flipping mine towards the end of the summer last year. If you have any questions when you get to swapping parts, let me know. Glad to see she is back in Michigan!
I built my own aluminum tank for my BAM. It's definitely heavier than plastic, but it can hold over four gallons. It's nice to have the option of long rides or fill with less fuel for lightweight. Thanks! I've got a kart tank that I mocked up, but really hate it. Going to borrow an aluminium tank from Blowsion to test fit and go that route if it clears. In addition to it looking really good, I would just really love the 4gal capacity if at all possible.
She's almost back on the water finally!
The through tubes are bowed on mine too, because they start towards the inside by the pump and do an S bend to get outside of the midshaft housing. Try feeding the cable from the other side. It will go through.Everything has lined up and fit extremely well. But now.... a REALLY stupid thing to get hung up on.... I cannot get the steering cable through the hull. @Desk_jockey, did you have a hard time getting the cable through? The pass through tube is slightly bowed under the tray and the stainless cable end just cannot make that bend. It keeps wedging, and even with a pull through guide wire it wont come through. Don't know that it would make a difference, but do you know what steering cable you ran? I've got a new Blowsion heavy duty.
I'll give it a go. But to get it through the rear I have to remove the white plastic OEM Yamaha steering cable connector. And I'm fearful it's nutted on the back side under the tray. The connector screws off. I don't think it came with the hull originally. I had to buy almost all hardware like that when I was assembling my hull. It would probably be difficult to get the cable through there without first removing it, even from the side you were trying.I'll give it a go. Strictly using online pictures as comparison, looks as if the stainless section on most steering cables are short on one end and long on the other. The Blowsion one is long on both ends. I'll have to take a closer look at the OEM cable on my round nose SuperJet.
I've owned multiple bams, I only ever used oem, and fed cables from the back into the hull.I removed the fitting from the hull and even after two hours of fighting with it was still unable to get the cable ran through. No method for pulling it through holds up. I think I’m giving up on it until I can get a different (probably OEM) cable. Not entirely confident that will solve the problem, but the ski has had two other setups in it before so I know some combination will work.
