D Cut Plate?

Ive got two plates i want to try and mod, one is the stock and the other wamiltons composite.
What are the mesurments to cut the D into i heard 3inches from tip of plate??
I also heard that the stock plate will crack after awhile with the D in it.

I cut 3 in. leaving 3/4 in. on the corners. I've been using this for more than 1 year and it has'nt cracked.

ANd you have the protec trim system? does that work sweet with the cut? ive got the protec on mine aswell

dont worry so much about it, its not rocket science. its roughly 3" radius, use whatever circle you have laying around for a template. leave 1/2 to 3/4 in on each side and make a half circle.

i've had mine for over a year as well and no problems, hit bottom a few times pretty good and nothing broke. works good with a trim setup too.

I did the same thing with my Wamilton's plate. I used a gallon can for a template. The Wamilton's plate cuts and sands easily. Iv'e been happy with it. I also run the Protec drop nozzle.

I just recently cut the d with a 3in radius. One of the best cheap mods I've done thus far. The improvement in handling was a night and day difference. If I get a season out of it before it cracks I'll get another one and do it again.

I'd use a jig saw for the ruff cut then sand to to the line . like a drum sander on a 90 grinder ..

I've ridden several skis with them, just never took the time to do mine and swap it out until today.

My ski is so hard to ride fast anyway, doing this can't hurt that much more.

Many many years of Dremel'ing young grasshopper. I can make Mt. Rushmore out of a single cube of ice in 3 minutes flat in direct sunlight with it. bwahaha

Exactly what I did. Mine is about 2.5" in and has about .5" on each side.

Works great with the CATS trim.

If you use the same technique as you did before the cut, the nose comes at you REALLY fast. The first couple I did, the boat went almost inverted.
