Even if you get the cap to stick on with the tauceti's chances are the caps will end up breaking apart. To salvage what would otherwise be a good filter...remove the cap, clean the surface of the filter and stick some turf on there. Once you trim it to suit, it looks good, doesn't let in water and is vibration resistant. We've run them like this for quite a while now and no problems yet.
 
K&N Pro Series. The top is rubber also. Nothing to fail as far as the tops falling off.
prop  and fa cracked 004.jpg I Dont like K&N marine series either, this cost me a topend . I had this one rip due to my fault , however the other one ripped a couple rides later due to quality , Pro series... IDK, I hope they are better . I just went back to oem Fa's and my worries are over .

They are going to all fail at some point, just like your slippy or jetpilot riding boots. I have found the K&N to hold up longer. Now the old metal top K&N's. Junk

you can make your own pre-filters with monofilament screen printing cloth and silicone spray surface lubricant.
