I found this the other day on a different forum. I printed out a few sheets and put them up around my house. Good stuff.

Personally, I want to be financially independent, not tied to a job to make ends meet, I don't need boats, I don't need fancy, I just need my computer, the net, some snacks, and whatever I darn well feel like working on. That doesn't mean I don't want to work, but I don't want to have my livelihood and everything I've worked for be able to be taken away because an employer decided they didn't like me anymore.

I want freedom, to be able to say 'I don't want to do X today, I'd rather do Y' to every situation rather than 'I have to do X otherwise I'll lose the ability to do Y' which is a kind of freedom that seems to be rare in this 'golden age' we live in.

Being a student and trying to get a credit card for the first time is a pain in the ass.

I got my first credit card when I was working at Kentucky Fried Chicken and a full time student. My credit line was 5 grand right off the bat. It was insane, I think I made $5,500 that year working for fast food.
My stereo system in the car was amazing though!

Got one paid off re negotiated at 26.5% rate to 15% last night hoping to ha all paid off within a year. Mortgage is still in play but only 40k left and valued at almost 3 times that. Might sell pay off and buy another house with cash within the year

I'm sure it's been said before in this thread but it's best starting to pay off your highest interest debt first. I know why Ramsey advocates paying off the smallest first. It has an immediate positive psychological effect that your making progress. However, you are disciplined paying off the higher interest debt first will save you money and in the long run you will have paid all your debt off faster. If your not disciplined and need the moral boost do it Ramsey's way.

Mine is medical bills from when I didn't have insurance. 12k worth down to 2200 now. I don't use credit cards on frivolous things only emergencies. I wasn't planning on taking the end of my finger off but it happened and that's how I had to deal with the bills

You should be using credit cards for everything. Cash back bonus is free money if you are disciplined enough to pay them off. I make money every month with credit cards.

Now that I paid them all off, you get none stop Zero Percent, Cash Back, Gas bonus, every offer in the world...a free % or two if you can pay it off every month. I love my Amazon Card, 5% credit on all Amazon purchases.

When we had our kid I signed up for all the best cash back bonus cards I could find for my wife and I. Ended up saving around 18% with the money we got back from the cards. :)
