I didn't perform anywhere near the level I think I can, but I did progress from last year. I think I did okay though for a stock SJ and only being in the surf a handful of times...

Every day I try to be the 1st in the surf. I like to try to get in 2 rides before it gets too busy and dangerous. I succeed Fri, Sat and Sun, although on Fri I had some water ingestion issues that kept me beached.

On Saturday, Gomez and I were parked side by side, and we got in that 1st ride together. We owned the ocean.

For some reason, Gomez wanted to show off his guns.

He then asked me for a few quick pointers. I said, "When you show off your guns, do it like this." He also asked for some riding advice. I humbly offered a little help.

He then put my awesome advice to good use.

I returned to my SJ, and looked at it and let out a deep sigh of admiration, knowing how much nicer it is than Gomez's Trinity.

In actuality, I asked him if he could fall down next to me once to make me look good. He didn't. He rocked it. I got rocked. Close enough.

on second thought, you should have said "Hey, if it was not for me, you would only look like an Average Rider, but because I am here, you are going to look like the Boss!"

Yeah, except it was Gomez, so he looks like the Boss regardless.

It was funny. I said "I was hoping you'd fall down next to me a few time to make me look good" and he replied, "Haha, it's rough out there. I'm having a hard time getting a rhythm." "Me too" I said. Haha

I was surprised. For a pro-rider, Gomez was incredibly down to earth and very nice.

X2... Mark and Zack are super chill guys (as well as other pro riders who were there). I talked to both of them and I even offered Zack to ride my ski. I was real curious to see what he thought of my ski and how it's setup. He seemed to really connect with it and I could tell after watching him ride other skis (he didn't bring his ski out to FL with him) I could quickly tell he was very comfortable and after a few minutes of riding he came to shore and said "I love it bro, it's perfect! Do you mind if I rode over there?" (where the other pros were). I watched him ride over there and throw a huge backflip. Blah blah blah... I was super stoked he loved my setup so much and it was great to have that opportunity. Obviously rider preference has nothing to do with right or wrong. What works for me may or may not work for him, I wasn't looking to change whatever he didn't like but just wanted a little feedback. I didn't believe it could be perfect in his eyes so I even asked specifics about pole length etc. And he said "dude everything is perfect, don't change a thing". That turned out to be the highlight of my weekend

I had to chuckle when I saw those pictures. I didn't want to take any shots at Gomez because he was such a nice guy. I'm 5'10", but those pictures make me look like a mongoloid.

Honestly, Most pro's are just like you and I. I have met plenty of them. They no different than us. Then there are those Pro's that are complete Arrogant Pricks. I will not name names.
