WTF? That BOB looks awesome. I think it is the best looking BOB out there. Whoever picked out the color scheme has incredible taste.

From what I know that BOB has a Gen 2 bottom deck and Gen 1.5 topdeck. I think more people would have tried it if they knew that.

The Ski Clinic should have been there IMO. Everyone else was but X-Scream probably tied them with the same number of potential customers riding their hulls. Just like last year it was only a select few who got to ride. Everyone else left their skis in the water most of the time for people to try but the KDX's were pulled from the water immediately after each ride.

That being said I can understand not wanting to make the trip from California and I can understand not wanting just anyone to ride your fancy expensive skis. I bet it still cost both companies a few sales, though.

Your old BOB is a Gen1 with widened rails. Same top deck as a Gen1, same bottom deck as a Gen 1. Some call it a Gen 1.5. The Gen2 has the widened rails, and a large intake duct, and a set back pump location. Your Gen1.5 had 1 out of 3 of the changes.

I nominate this for the most short-sighted post of the year!

you'd have been better off to say

"we have loved to come, but we didnt want to get behind on hull production"

or

"we wanted to be there but family stuff got in the way"

by dismissing freeriding, you are dismissing a HUGE customer base

business 101

We're pumping out a hull a week, sometimes 5 a month. We are very busy with the BOBs, and another reason we couldn't go to Daytona was because of work. About 4 months out on orders just trying to meet the demand. I was just stating the obvious with my first post... We don't personally ride surf, so we aren't going to go to a Surf event all the way across the country for 1 day to demo our skis.

If we made thousands and thousands of dollars on each of these hulls that we sell, believe me, we would have been there with a trailer full of BOBs with different motors to demo, but just like everyone else, we have bills to pay and a job to do. Can't exactly take time off for a vacation during our slow season. How about you East Coast guys coming out West for the Pismo Freeride? Because it's kind of the same scenario.

I'm not dismissing freeriding, not by any means. I'm more of dismissing myself from freeriding. Christian Young is one of our sponsored riders, and he's killing it in the surf. We 110% support him and we do what we can to make sure his hull is doing good. If we didn't care for the freeriding industry, we wouldn't be supporting him.

well that may be true. you guys are awesome people to deal with. here's the problem with what you are saying. apparently eme, xmetal, superfreak, watercraft factory, rickter, and trinity all showed up. if it were me i would asked a couple local clients, flown out and did some representing. here is something else that i've noticed.. people with bobs are selling their hulls for superfreaks. actually a lot of people are selling their a/m hulls for superfreaks. it wouldn't of been anything to fly in and represent. instead it looks like you are "afraid" of the competition. this is just my personal opinion of course.

We're just busy, man. I've been to Daytona for the freeride, it was cool being around all the skis and the chill environment, but our schedules just didn't work. Not many BOBs in the Florida area, other than X-Metal's BOB. Also, there's not many SuperFreaks in the California area, it's just how it is. Plus, we didn't want to make our clients feel obligated that they HAVE to go to Daytona to test out THEIR ski to everyone for OUR benefit. I know I wouldn't want to be in that situation.
And if you don't mind me asking, who's all selling BOBs for Super Freaks? The only one I can think of is Shane, and all I can assume is because he got one of our first hulls, and things just didn't work out with it..

You realize none of those hull builders you listed live on the westcoast and 4 out of 6 of them are from florida haha

I was going to link this to my for sale thread for that BOB to explain but somehow it is gone. I was in the situation of getting a 62 pound Carbon Superfreak/Superjet hybrid and selling the Bob hull and pocketing a four figure amount of money or keeping the (74 or 76 or 78...cant remember) pound BOB. Wife said we had spent too much money at the time anyways and I was thinking I wanted more of a recreational ski so I went with the other ski. I have since decided I miss the shorter / wider ski and sold the older Superfreak for a Superfreak Badass because I love the way they ride. It fits my ride style perfect. Nothing against the BOB hulls though.....Can't we all just get along? Stop hitting me. Don't tase me bro.

I spend too much regularly on my ski, I definitely understand, but it brings me more happiness then most things in my life. I feel it's an investment in my happiness. Different strokes for different folks, but a great many people see things the same way I do when it comes to a phenomenal, all around good to great at everything hull.

superfreak was in pismo after worlds.... :p

gil, most people won't post honest feedback. people are partial to a brand for many factors. love the owner, the ideas, blah blah blah. i'm partial to what works the best for me. i absolutely loved my 06 ktm 450sx. i hate my 09 450xcf. bike feels like :):):):). tons of power though. after riding all these other hulls i went with a superfreak because it really is that bad ass haha. if you want to try one i'll be making a trip up that way in the summer to do some dirt biking. i'm sure the ski wouldn't be much more added weight.

This thread has emphasized what we already learned long before Daytona-if you got the coin-get a freak. If you are a BAB (broke azz beyotch), get the BOB. lol

I have been VERY impressed with the way DK has represented himself here on the X. There have been some sketchy moments and they always show true professionalism. On the other hand, Tem could be a complete azz because his product speaks for itself. The enlightening part has been the EME hulls. I've seen
several come and go without alot of conversation-seems like if you like a purpose built hull it may be a viable option. My opinion (that don't mean crap) is that the EME hulls require too much work/parts for the avg joe blow to be able to afford. The best thing to come from Daytona was Albany Motorsports having PROOF of a flatwater backy with a oem hull and a 777 ish motor!!! Goes to prove it you want it bad enough and don't have deep pockets that it CAN be done!!!

My home away from home.
I love reviews, but at the same time everybody has their own ride styles, preferences, what they are used to, buddies, etc.. So there's going to be differences in opinions, but I am all for avoiding the minor drama. Post honest productive opinions like stated, and take them for what they are. Opinions...

It's got to be tough for any builder to get the time and means to make a cross country trip to represent his quality goods. Hats off to those that have!

Can't we all just get along, have fun and progress the good times?:djsmilie:
edit: And I am thankful for those that posted the good stuff. The end.

Eme cam with hulls and engine combo's for everyone to ride. I spent little time on my ski . to let others ride and test it. The 900 cc power seemed to really fit alot of people who rode it. I am surprised i dont see more feedback from people about the product(s).

I rode a superfreak or two and thought i was going to be shocked with how great they were, sadly i couldnt ride it lie my Aerial. It was hard to prfor me to preload and bunny hop.
