I nominate this for the most short-sighted post of the year!
you'd have been better off to say
"we have loved to come, but we didnt want to get behind on hull production"
or
"we wanted to be there but family stuff got in the way"
by dismissing freeriding, you are dismissing a HUGE customer base
business 101
We're pumping out a hull a week, sometimes 5 a month. We are very busy with the BOBs, and another reason we couldn't go to Daytona was because of work. About 4 months out on orders just trying to meet the demand. I was just stating the obvious with my first post... We don't personally ride surf, so we aren't going to go to a Surf event all the way across the country for 1 day to demo our skis.
If we made thousands and thousands of dollars on each of these hulls that we sell, believe me, we would have been there with a trailer full of BOBs with different motors to demo, but just like everyone else, we have bills to pay and a job to do. Can't exactly take time off for a vacation during our slow season. How about you East Coast guys coming out West for the Pismo Freeride? Because it's kind of the same scenario.
I'm not dismissing freeriding, not by any means. I'm more of dismissing myself from freeriding. Christian Young is one of our sponsored riders, and he's killing it in the surf. We 110% support him and we do what we can to make sure his hull is doing good. If we didn't care for the freeriding industry, we wouldn't be supporting him.
well that may be true. you guys are awesome people to deal with. here's the problem with what you are saying. apparently eme, xmetal, superfreak, watercraft factory, rickter, and trinity all showed up. if it were me i would asked a couple local clients, flown out and did some representing. here is something else that i've noticed.. people with bobs are selling their hulls for superfreaks. actually a lot of people are selling their a/m hulls for superfreaks. it wouldn't of been anything to fly in and represent. instead it looks like you are "afraid" of the competition. this is just my personal opinion of course.
We're just busy, man. I've been to Daytona for the freeride, it was cool being around all the skis and the chill environment, but our schedules just didn't work. Not many BOBs in the Florida area, other than X-Metal's BOB. Also, there's not many SuperFreaks in the California area, it's just how it is. Plus, we didn't want to make our clients feel obligated that they HAVE to go to Daytona to test out THEIR ski to everyone for OUR benefit. I know I wouldn't want to be in that situation.
And if you don't mind me asking, who's all selling BOBs for Super Freaks? The only one I can think of is Shane, and all I can assume is because he got one of our first hulls, and things just didn't work out with it..
