Whats the point of helping the water move from the engine compartment into the tray by drilling 2 holes, and then trying to get rid of it through tiny small versi plugs?
Water in the engine compartment should be removed by bilge or scupper. Water intrusion into the tray should be kept at minimum and what little would leak into it should then be drained by the small versiplugs. Am I wrong?
That's what I was wondering

So I'm a little concerned. Today was the second time riding in surf, and when I get done I'm finding these dark purple pieces floating around in my engine bay. They float, and one of them appears to be a piece of foam but, the others are hard, not foam.

My guess is they are coming off of part of the inside of the engine bay that is rubbing against something like waterbox, exhaust, etc. I'd get a torch inside the hull and see if you can see where it's coming from but this may be hard to do without taking anything out of the hull.

And yes Graham is correct about Lava rocks such as Pumice. They float.

If your moving the versa plug will get the water out. I never installed a bilge in my SXR, only had a duckbill. Buried the nose many times racing and put plenty of water in the hull, Never an issue. Granted, I would not want to do any flat water freestyle with that size versa plug, But nothing is going to remove water like a scupper would. But this is not being used as a flat water boat.

The entire engine bay is black. These pieces are dark purple. So they must be swishing around in the hollow tray then coming out of the hole( in the bulk head). There are 2 holes, 1 on each side of mid shaft, one opening is about 1 1/2" other 1". The 1" side has a versi plug, the other has no exit. Emailed Tony Tigercraft and he told me it must be 2 part foam breaking away when previous owner spilled some fuel in the hull, and i may want to seal off the holes in the bulk head

I wouldn't want to get wet out on the water either......Lol
lol. It's more of when im riding surf and searching for a wave ill get hit with a decent amount of water and end up missing the wave. Same thing happens if im running wide open on flat water, just hits harder obviously. Not something that would affect my decision buying the ski, but perhaps something that could use minor revision in the future
