If you want to be a real redneck then try this:
Get some thin strands of copper wire about 2" long and put about 8~12 strands down into the hole. The more the better actually, as long as you can thread the bolt in. Leaving the ends of the copper wire hanging out of the hole, thread the bolt in past the coper wire, which is soft; into the hole. It should get tight. The coper wire should crush and conform into the hole; as long as the copper can grab the walls of the cylinder then you should be able to torque it down.
