Destroyed head bolt threads HELP

Didn't someone make a conversion plate to be able to run 62T stuff in the GP800? I have X-Scream in my head but it may have been WDK.?.?.?
I’m not sure, I don’t know how good that would run with all the differences between the two motors so im not sure if it would warrant even making something for it.. I could be wrong though!
I know you can use 61x/62t electronics on a 760 motor without an adapter but I’m not sure if you could with a gp800?

Yeah, it would have to be the 62T based MSD TL stuff, not OEM so you are correct, that's a pretty limited advantage to even bother going after.

I must be thinking about a different conversion but I can still picture the cases. I am trying to find the original thread from when X-Scream revealed the 1200 and 1400 motor packages.

I shall never doubt me or my search skills ever again!
http://www.x-h2o.com/index.php?threads/the-xs1200-project-from-xscream.87383/

The XS1200 will be released in early 2011. The web page below will outline the results of hundreds of hours of research and development on this highly anticipated project. Our XS1200 Development web page has photos of some custom engine components.

The engine features modified Yamaha 66E cases with a custom manufactured stator plate allowing the use of 62T style MSD electronics. The MSD TL ignition will bolt on with no additional modifications required. Carburetion will come from dual 49mm Full Spectrum carbs with a custom XScream intake system. No exhaust adapter is required for 701/760 style exhaust systems. This engine uses an 84mm billet crankshaft designed, built and balanced specifically for the XS1200 (Stroke 84mm x Bore 94.5mm/95mm).

94.5mm Bore = 1178cc
95mm Bore = 1190cc

I have not even pulled my stator cover off yet... I am afraid of having to buy any parts from Jeff for it. He has been known to lag a tiny bit once in a while

If MSD makes a specific unit to fit the GP800's already, what's the advantage to running the 62T stuff? Weight and availability are the only ones that come to mind. Lots of guys already have plenty of the 62T laying around.

I guess it could also open you up to some of the programmable options as well.

He is a very busy guy lol
If you can find a msd totalnloss for a gp1200 (three channel) you can use that too and cap off one of the channels..
it’s pricey but the difference it makes is incredible with these motors

If
You ever end up with one I will help
You with whatever you need since it took me forever to figure it out myself

If I’m not mistaken the dipswitches and curves are identical on all the units, it’s just the plate and the flywheel that are different for the gp800/1200 I think
The flywheels should be the same weight from MSD for both setups.. come
To think of it the flywheel should be identical between the TL’s across all motors since they all mount the same and use the same triggers? Unless they have the magnets reversed for the 62t because the triggers would be behind the flywheel instead?

I can’t really say if there would be an advantage besides cost and availability?

I like Jeff, and this isnt a bash Jeff thing. I just know from my past dealings things can take much longer then you hope.
But he does make some killer stuff

Is this the plate I need?

Sweet just got the plate. I Google searched it and there it was on Ebay for 50. So I bought it. Then asked if it was correct.

Baby steps....
I have a 701 msd total loss sitting in my shed. Flywheel, coils and box. Will that work on this with this GP plate?

I think the brain box, plug wires, coils, everything accept stator plate and flywheel if I’m not mistaken

Pm me a pic of the stuff if you’d like

All I have done is get a new gp800 flywheel, removed the magnets and had what was left lightened. Took off about 1.5 lbs. Just installed it today. Will hopefully have a ride report on Sunday.

Good luck
Will be interested to hear how it runs
Have been trying to get this setup dialed in for ever now
