Super Jet difference betwen stock 144mm pump, and a stat trak mag pump. 144mm

i run a 140 mag and could tell a difference in all water conditions and i dont agree with the whole "high rpm" thing. i would personally never go back to a stock pump.

anyone that thinks there stock pump is better has no clue. i cant ride a boat without a mag pump anymore. even with a limited 701. 140 144 148 are all good pumps. i have 4 boats i ride they all have mag pumps in um. so does my blaster. hell i even put a 148 mag in my stock b2.

Most mag pumps are bought for use in flatwater. They make a huge difference in any water, out of the water they dont make a difference!

First off I believe a OEM pump is 140mm not 144mm, however the main difference between a Magnum pump and a stock pumps design is such that a Magnum pump requires less water to pressurize the pump and produce thrust. This advantage is really only noticeable in rough/churned up water conditions such as on a race track following in someone else's wake or in the ocean on the whitewater created by a breaking wave. In smooth water most people can't notice an advantage of a mag pump over a stocker.

Hell you can even tell the difference by looking at the jetstream...



with a stock pump the stream is streaked completely aerated and streaked with white



with a mag pump the stream is much darker blue....no air

yeah i want one bad, My stock pump with 12/20 skat, just isnt doing my limited setup any justice. Not sure if i get the 9/15 hooker, and run a stubby pump cone will help any.

I went from a 14/17 skat to a 10/16 hooker and it made a huge difference on my sski!
call Dave at Impros and ask his advice!

SO tell me just what magical combination are you guys running that's getting you so much better performance from your mag on SMOOTH water? I really want to know because I have two identically set up limited Superjets with the exception of the pumps. One has a 140mm set back Mag with a 14/19 skat and the other has an OEM pump with a 11/17 hooker. Like I said previously, my Mag equipped ski really shines in both churned up flat water and in the whitewater of a breaking wave in the surf but on SMOOTH water their performance is pretty much identicle. So what prop pitch should I be running to get this fantastic SMOOTH water performance?

Hey John.

I went from a stock pump with a 13/17 Skat Freeride Swirl with stock cone and stock nozzle to a 140 12V mag. Impeller is a Skat 13/17 (different impeller though!) With medium cone and 140 Skat nozzle bored to 82.6
Gains were phenomenal everywhere - awesome acceleration gains plus top speed gain. Most noticeable on flatwater.
When I swapped everything into the Superfreak, the impeller got pitched up to 14/17.
I can't take any credit for the pump setups - Art helped me with all that and he was spot on every time.
I don't know that any of this would work for you, though. My motor is kinda high strung.

x2... I notice a difference in the chop and surf but I've tried a 14/19 and just put a 12/18 in my 140 setback mag but in smooth water, it's hard to tell the difference between a mag and a stock pump and hooker prop.

Maybe my trailing edge is too tall on all these props. I'm running 85mm bored nozzles too. Maybe I should try something smaller.
