Custom/Hybrid Different bunk ideas whats the best one

Hey guys I'm looking for the best solution to keep the bottom of my skis from being scratched. I just sold my triple pwc trailer with carpeted bunks and rubber centers and am currently getting a custom enclosed trailer built to hold 2 skis on bottom 2 skis on top. What is the BEST way to prevent scratching on the bottom of my skis and yet hold the securely? Any input is greatly appreciated and pictures are even better. THANKS GUYS

I think carpeted bunks made from 2x4's is the best way not to scratch the bottom of a hull..
I have tried putting stock sj bumpers on the tops of 2x4 s and that works pretty well skis slide nicely with those. till you have a screw back out on you.
Composite 2x 4 or 6 work as well

I've had good experience with 2*4s and astro-turf. Slides well and doesn't rot too

My xfs got scratched to hell on the bottom because of bunks and scissor stands. I won't let that happen to my new Kdx and rokr. I'm thankful for all your guys help so keep up with the ideas I am thinking maybe like a gym matt bunk idea or something.

Ive heard that the orange tubing that you see the massive rolls on the side of roads work real good. Im not sure how or were to buy it. But maybe asking the town workers for some they might give you.

Havent tried it yet but it doesnt sun dry like pvc. When I get some ill be trying that for my next bunks

I found really good plastic covers, they are grey in color that lock around your 2x4 bunks they came in 8ft lengths about 20$ each. Work great last forever and never scratched my ski again! probably can find them at any boat place or online.

HDPE(high density polyethylene)... i was going to do this on alum pipe, then i was at a friends place who built a bar in his garage and had some foamy rubberish padding around it.. the stuff was somewhat soft yet not that soft.. he wasn't sure what it was he just knew he got it online somewhere... then i got to thinking.. roll bar padding(for race cars and stuff) might work good too...

2x4 with rounded edges will work on its own of you need the boat to slide out of trailer a little easier (which can be an issue in enclosed trailers) . When you carpet them they become hard to slide when wet. On an open trlr I'd say carpet them, but in the shop and in enclosed trlr I would simplpe use treated 2x4 ronded and sanded smooth, no carpet. This has always worked well for me.

I use composite 2x4 they often put on decks and outdoor patios. They are super cheap, won't rot, slide very well when wet, and they usually have them for sale even cheaper in precut 4ft lengths.

I have a couple solid 2x4 chunks of UMHW I plan to use as my service cart bunks and some 3/4 in strips of the same stuff to cover my trailer bunks. Its super slick and tough im anxious to try it.

That's what I have had for a few years now. I like it a lot.
