his excat words were, not gonna any time soon. ☹️
Not going to happen. No new SuperJetNot gonna... what? Not gonna ‘happen’? Not gonna ‘be announced’? Not gonna ‘get yours’? Just trying to understand, is all.

Exactly what I was told too. My understanding is it was caused by Kawasaki's sales numbers. Once the Yamaha brass saw the Kawasaki flop they pulled the plug on the new superjet out of the fear theirs would flop too.
Didn’t ask, it was laughed at by the “ties” at the dealers meeting, was mentioned and forgotten in one min, i work for Yamaha, I have since 2006. I spoke w my rep this am as i placed an order for a 2019 Superjet, yes I’m in Ca. his excat words were, not gonna any time soon. ☹️ Superjet sales have been on the steady decline. Kawasaki has tons & tons of units sitting unsold after tons & tons of hype. Sorry no state by state production numbers. Did you know Yamaha no longer imports Superjet to Australia ? I learned that today
Just look at the Kawasaki - its just to darn ugly and heavy. Look what Kommander did by putting the SXRF 1500 motor in their normal looking nice size ski.
Bet Kawasaki would of sold more if it was more modern looking and a little lighter. I would of bought one and I know a bunch of guys that were waiting for years for the thumper....only to laugh in sadness once it came out.

They would have sold more for sure. I don't race but was intrigued about a 4 stroke ski for a cruiser. I was in %100 on buying the new kawi not knowing what it looked like or price. Then they released the pics and details... Standups shouldn't be 500+ lbs.. For that fact, I was out and extremely disappointed as were most I believe.
If Yamaha would drop a 4 stroke in their current hull, ill gladly buy one.
Just so we are clear, that means no SJ at all in 2020??

Wasn't kawasaki forced to make it so big because they were too lazy/didn't have the budget to R&D new components, so they had to go with heavy un-optimized components? This obviously resulting in more "necessary" flotation and thus huge overall dimensions? What is the weight of the TR-1 compared to the 1500? Surely if Yamaha actually tries, it won't have to be such a barge..
Either way, whatever yamaha brings us, if they bring it, is going to be bashed and thrown to the side by 80%+ of the standup community I would think.
yes and no
they had to make it that size to meet the USCG Floatation Standards. If they had come up with a smaller motor that was lighter, the hull would have been much smaller.
I hope Yamaha builds the hulls. Would hate to know we were buying Yamaha's coming out of that factory............. trainwreck.I heard they are making new (as in different sized) crates for the Super Jet at the Newnan Factory. Hope they partner up with Kommander and put out a GP1 bottomed ski. I’m in for one if so. If not, I’ll save my pennies for a ProForce or GP1.

From what I was told Super Jet hulls are not made by Yamaha now. Only the runabouts are.
