The 701 is 85lbs (?), and TR1 160lbs means +75lbs just in motor. Either they shaved weight from the SMC (heavy) hull or from the TR1...

It's all about the balance of the hull. We play with ride plates and intakes all day, but they only get one chance to get a hull right, since they will make 5000 of them at a time. Excited to see some on water vs. the 2020 Jet

I can understand why the nose is engineered the way it is. The TR1 is a tall engine and needs more hood height then the 701. To make the frontend more streamlined they would of had to lengthen the hull which none of us want. They put in max effort to make it as short as possible,sacrificing some cosmetics. How it handles on the water is all that matters.

No matter what yamaha does there will be haters. The only disappointing thing about the release is that there is no more 2 stroke classic superjet. Props to them for change and innovation
