do all lithium batteries need a special charger?

im looking for a replacement for my AGM. My AGM weighs 16 freaking pounds. i spoke with Art and the Jetworks weigh 14.2. i dont want to go with a wet cell cause my ski is upside down alot ( i cant roll). sooooooo... i want to go with a LIPO but they all need special chargers i believe. does anyone have an alternative? should i just go with a wet cell? i have MSD TL.

i just checked their website. which CCA did you go with? im thinking the 290 will be plenty.

Go with wps 20 or higher as long as it would fit your battery box (the higher the cca the better their light anyways

earthx are nice batteries. but about twice the price of th WPS. i wonder why some lithinums need special chargers and some dont?

the earthx has a built in regulator circuit,most dont.Id still use a good RC charger when ya spend that much $ on a battery

the earthx have a built in Battery Managment System so basically the charger is built into the battery. I don't know about the WPS batteries. A Lithium charger really doesn't cost that much and can be found at any rc hobby wesite/shop. ~100 for a powersupply and charger if you buy cheap.

Saw an Earthx blow up a couple weeks ago...

Earthx has already found the problem and is replacing all watercraft batteries with a new one that gets submersion tested for 20 minutes before being passed

thats good to hear,great concept in the battery,Strangely though,the one speedy is referring to was brand new and deff not wet inside. It didnt really blow up but it totally melted the positive cable off in a matter of seconds. The lith batt companies need to stop using these cheesy cheap arse thin plastic cases.ID like to have a solid deka case with lith cells inside.I think most would be fine with the extra few ounces in plastic weight to have something really durable

Thought he was talking about Todd from rad dudes battery. Earthx has been working really closely with us on getting a battery that can hold up to the abuse we put our skis through

nah,wavejunkie here had the bad luck,something funny has been going on with the starter in that ski though. No excessive heat in wires or starter though as the time it melted down,they did send another out quickly under warranty. hopefully they get the issue fig out and stay on top of their warranty in the mean time. seems like a nice light batt for a ski

How many cells do they have? My Lipo charger goes up to 6c

i tried to contact WPS. they dont have a number to call. are you sure i can charge with a conventional 12volt car charger?

Battery Tenders are supposed to be a no-no..

just get a icharger 106,I can get them for 85 brand new.well worth it to save a $250 battery
