I'd just look for a functioning used OEM and clean her up real good. But to answer you question, I don't know of anyone that does.

Where do you get a new spring. I have a working stator I'm about to throw in my ski since mine is going out. Wouldn't mind replacing it.

There is a metal plate with 3 tabs on it in the bendix which spaces and locates the 3 weights. It is made of stamped steel and tabs are bent, they will commonly break off. The bendix will still work but weights can move around more, over time this causes the spring to break and BOOM! Carnage.

IMO that and water intrusion is what kills most bendix.

You can pull the flywheel and the bendix with the motor in the ski. But considering how easy and fast it is to pull the motor, I would just take it out to do it.

I think its easier to just remove the fuel tank, then fly wheel cover, flywheel, bendex

thanks guys. does the same hold with a lightweight charging flywheel? or, is the whole issue discussed above moot? (do I still need to check it periodically?)

sorry I don't know a lot about what is behind the flywheel cover.
