Surfriding does anyone rebuild bendex's?

That spring around the weights will wear through and break. This is the root cause of many damaged stators. Inspect and/or replace it every season.

Where do you get a new spring. I have a working stator I'm about to throw in my ski since mine is going out. Wouldn't mind replacing it.

There is a metal plate with 3 tabs on it in the bendix which spaces and locates the 3 weights. It is made of stamped steel and tabs are bent, they will commonly break off. The bendix will still work but weights can move around more, over time this causes the spring to break and BOOM! Carnage.

IMO that and water intrusion is what kills most bendix.

You can pull the flywheel and the bendix with the motor in the ski. But considering how easy and fast it is to pull the motor, I would just take it out to do it.

I think its easier to just remove the fuel tank, then fly wheel cover, flywheel, bendex

thanks, I would prefer to avoid wrestling with the pipe if possible but can pull the motor if need be

anything special or tools required to pull the flywheel? I believe I've read about a flywheel puller?
