We are not-for-profit, we are not 'don't try to promote the site'. Nascency graciously put x-h2o in their movie, we returned the favor by providing a free banner ad.
The AWA banner has been up since I installed the ad system, there hasn't been a single comment about that. We provide that as a way of trying to keep jetskiing legal.

Too much mud has been thrown in this thread and has obscured the point.
The purpose of this thread was to shift the financial expenses associated with the site from member donations to business ad banners.
There are a handful of members who are subtly promoting their business and not doing the right thing by paying for an banner ad. It is one thing to clean out a garage selling stuff, it is another to have a presence in the industry (brick n' morter, website, whatever) and do this for profit.
I can list 4 businesses right now that should advertise, but do not. 2 of them are often on the bards helping others, the other two on less often and one sponsors many riders.
Banner ads add legitimacy to your business, increases exposure (i.e brand recognition), and ultimately increase sales. Why not pay $25/month? It is one of the cheapest marketing tools available. Hell, even rotating it on 6 mos, off 6 mos. That is $300 for 12 mos, or $150 for 6 mos. I know people who pay that for coffee in a month.
It might have been an afterthought, and the post was just to remind them it is an option.

im just trying to figure out why the site insists on giving out free ads while complaining that theres not enough funds to "cusion" the cost. you are not a site owner nor do you have the answer. there is no agenda, so, again, stop assuming stupid crap.

There are currently 2 banner ads that are unpaid for.......... One is the AWA, dont think I need to explain that one....... The other is the Addiction, already explained.

And NOONE from the X has called out blowsion. That was 100% members.
EDIT: Searched this thread for all references to Blwosion, and Paul, Harrison, and Darin have all gone to the defese on how they have been illy treated.

I think that its no ones business, if X-admin, trades some advertising for advertising, to get more members to get more exposure... I think that some of the comments on this thread are Rediculous. You should be working about how to promote, not how to be knocking this site....
I cant even believe that You SFL would even comment on NC, He does nothing but Spend his own money to support us, making a vid, and spreading his word about how great we are, and you post this.... Holy.
I have sport bike guys here talking about me.... I sold 70 Addiction dvds last weekend, half of wich, I walked into shops and the owners of some of the shops that sell, skis and sport bikes, say man, I have heard about this.... THAT IS HUGE, AND THANK YOU TO CHRIS....

Not word for word but the same point............
point being, nobody has been shamed to run a banner............. People (Businesses) were asked if they could contribute/purchase advertisement.
But now that I think about it............
How about this idea........... No sig lines saying, "Get your ABC Hulls and Hoods here?????? Looks like free Adverstisement to Me...........
What do you all think, that a good idea?????????????? I did not think anybody would like that............. Yeah, I am a little frusterated right now.....
