If I am able to come home then I want to do it while I am in town but I am not sure when I will be up that way. Since they dont take things through email (fax only) it is going ot be a bit of a hassel. Also I will have to pay sales tax on what my estimated hull value is.

Is this the only form I will need to fill out and bring to the dmv with me? when I do what all will I have to pay for and what other paper work will they need (receipts ect....)

Not quite....you pay sales tax on the value of materials on the receipts you bring in. And if the receipts indicate that you already paid sales tax, then you pay nothing ;)

Ya when I talked to the lady on the phone she kept having to put me on hold to go get answers when I questioned information she was giving me compared to what you have said. I kinda thought that would be the case with sales tax even there after reading the deal benny posted.

the other thing is, she said I would recieve registration and what not but wouldnt get the title for 3 years. Ive never kept anything for 3 years, not even a car. how would I sell it before then.

After emailing and calling Erie with no timely response...I emailed one more time and CC'd Ohio Department of Insurance (Didn't even know we had one...)...bam ...phone rings....Mr. V you are for sure insured at your declared value...$.8900 ski and motor and $1100 triton trailer. She was not aware of any issues with state issued HINS but she understood what I was talking about entirely . She could not speak for other sates.

She was a higher up because she really knew her stuff.

She did say that "we are not saying we want to go around insuring all custom watercraft but we decided 3 years ago to insure yours and we stand by it."

I am guessing it is different in Ohio or my agent screwed up 3 years ago and now they are just rolling with it. She could not say. She promised me I am covered no matter what.

I mentioned Niagara and she said I am covered!

Sounds like some cherry picking going out in the insurance world maybe?

No way to know until you need to claim.
And while the homebuilt HIN's are issued by individual states, it is a federal deal.

How much do you pay a year and what is your deductible?

250 deduct and 273 per year for coverage @ 8900 ski/motor and 1100 on trailer.

I will probably raise it to 12k on the ski/motor some day.

Just got everything taken care of with DMV. gotta say, it is a bit concerning how easy that was to do. 30 minutes and $29 later I was out the door with reg and stickers in hand. Title will be here within 30 day....... gotta go ride now.

I have my rickter insured at farmers for 15k. The agent is a personal friend and I grilled her to make sure it was insured and she promised me that it is. $350 a year.

So how was the process registering your Rickter in CA? What documents were you required to provide? Do you remember what the document numbers were that you had to fill out? May help others on here be better prepared. EDIT: Guess ya beat me to it there Qunic.

So you didn't provide any documents from whom you purchased your Rickter from? I thought in this thread (could've been another thread) a person had commented that he had received a notice from CA DMV that his RRP hull actually was valued at X number of dollars and that he was going to have to pay X amount to bring his registration current.

My rickter is already registered. It was titled from NY when I bought it. It will be going up for sale soon. I actually just bought a -4.7 superfreak and a brawler.
