How's this a joke? How long have they had these ski's? Yet never registered them? Seriously, come on, the cops did what they're paid to do. Yeah it sucks, but ignorance is no excuse for the law.

A joke as in...."I want to bid on those skis when they come up for auction"...may get a good deal.

Stan, Zack
Sorry for what happened to you guys.
I hope you do get your skis back.

yeah it's a terrible story and a load of crap. Jake bright his brother just built his rickter and this was his first ride, as well as zack just put in his brand new DASA power pant. Now they sit in the impound lot no covers nothing, to be weathered by the weather. It freaking blows, but its the rules in cali you need your stuff registered at all times.

Hopefully they get them back some how.

I hope they get the skis but it's pretty simple as others have stated. $29 registration and putting a few letters/numbers on your ski can save you a lot of hassle in the long run. If you can afford the skis then why not register?

Ok here's the dealeo. Jake just built his last night. He wanted to ride it bad. Can you blame him? I had my second day on my DASA. Wanted to ride. Stan rides pismo and the don't care out there.

End of the day, yes, we should have registration. it's not hard to get. We all have been gambling and today we lost.

The cops were just doing their jobs. I'm fine with the ticket but having them impounded because of that is a bit harsh. I know that's the law but their obviously our skis. If we did have registration on them the cops wouldn't have any thing to say if infact some one did steal my ski.

Our skis are not going to be auctioned off. It's not even at that point, nor will it be. We HAVE documents on the skis how do you think I got mine released. The other two are going thru the process at the polices own time. We will have all 3 tomm.

I think stating that it looks bad on us as riders and our sponsors is a bit harsh.

I gotta say the whole community has helped us out alot. Helps knowing people who know people.

Btw, this thread was in no way to mimmick, make fun of today's events, or point fingers, just to let everyone know that it's serious stuff. Imagine having 25-30k invested into something, then watching hopelessly as it's carted off over some minor stupid bs. The whole point is to let people know to have your stuff legit. Here in Cali it's one form, couple bucks and standing in line at the local low life DMV office. I in no way think it's funny, right, or ok what happened, but you gotta look at it from a neutral position. All I want to do by posting this thread is to let others know what CAN and WILL happen if you don't have the proper stuff.

Zack, glad you got your ski an wish your bro and Stanton a speedy ski recovery as well. Unfortunately, I hope people learn from your guys mistake. Other then that, keep the sweet pics/videos rolling in from So Cal.

i know this is off topic but has anyone ever got fined for using a non coastguard approved life jacket?
I've been using a wakeboard slip over and haven't had trouble yet, but i don't want to go to a different lake or the ocean and get fined for it
if there is already a thread about this can you direct me to it, thanks

If anything, it's a reminder for me to put HIN tags on mine. I've had it legally registered all along, but I don't have the tags made yet.

Had a buddy get caught with a similar setup an they just warned him it wasn't uscg approved. I'm sure they could've cited him, but I'd guess it's only a fix it ticket? Not sure on this, just guessing. I never carry a fire extinguisher, an I hope it's only a warning/fix it ticket?

No Fire extinguisher, No USCG approved vest, No CF numbers, No registration or DL (yes make a photocopy and carry it).......ALL these are Minor citations and "fix it" tickets.....However as Motoman already stated, a Ski with no HIN Tags is serious chit as it could most likely be stolen. The cops don't know so they will act as if it was stolen until you can prove is yours. They are doing their Job....

I love the pic thru the fence, skis looking like sad and lonely pets left behind by their masters. I hope you guys get the last 2 back today. It's a hard way to learn a lesson and I hope it has a happy ending. I am guilty myself of running without the proper documentation for my first two rides so who am I to judge. Paperwork was filed but hadn't arrived yet and the ski was crying to be let out.

As for all the cop bashers, you hate em when they do their job, you hate em when they don't. Haters gonna hate. Life's too short for that BS.

Glad it is working out. 2006 I was driving back from Paul and Kathy's Wedding, I had dropped my wife off at her Parents, I was about 20 minutes from home, had to take a leak, turned off on a side road, took a leak, followed the road back where it intersects the highway. I look back and there is a cop pulling me over. He asked me what I was doing coming off that dirt road, I told him, He basically thinks I was stealing the ski's. Runs the numbers etc etc.......... Pain in my ass but they were doing their jobs.
