LOL....we are doing awesome chasing each other around this.

BTW, I have heard about folks sleeving those Nikasil bores for cost reasons.
Engineered heat removal comes up as a concern.

i had dual cooling inputs and enough pissers on it that it was cool..... i had two sets of triple pissers running right below the hood on each side on the gp800, looked cool and was functional

Why would Yamaha care enough to measure the port mismatch and even more suspicious, take the effort to stamp it onto the cylider? It's gotta be about the bore size because the GP800's have the same numbers and they don't even have sleeves (like couch rider said, the pistons come is sizes A, B, C, and D).

Bingo.

Perhaps the cylinders with 00 piston clearance have that clearance because they are fitted as designed into the casting. Means least clearance, and incidentally, best port match.

lets think about this
these cylinders are die cast
you cant get that much core shift
I have a set of 00 cylinders in fact i have had a few
they are no better than any other ones i have seen in fact one of them was the worst until i ported it

I've always questioned the truth behind it. Perhaps Travisty could enlighten us, the lost.

So we still know nothing for sure about the meaning of 00?

Their has to be something to it. I got mine on a full blown race SJ.

I can say the ports are WAY cleaner on the 00'S than they have been on the 4 or 5 other cylinders I have seen in my lifetime. They line up perfectly.

Can you say with absolute certainty that the sleeve has not been ported? Or perhaps removed and put back in with better alignment?

was this a ltd. or superstock set-up?

I would say it was a SS just before I got it. I'm not 100% sure though.

When I got it had these new 00 cylinders with heavily ported cases, worked carbs (by full spectrum I think), girdled head and a speedwerx dry with a 14.5/18.5 prop amd front sponsons. What are (or were 4 years ago) SS set ups like anyway?

I think they toned it down to sell cuz the domes I had in it only produce like 15psi but it still went damn near 58MPH or so (guess)

I don't know anything about race rules....does SS preclude cylinder porting? (If so, why does it allow case porting???)
