Double Zero Cylinders

I would say it was a SS just before I got it. I'm not 100% sure though.

When I got it had these new 00 cylinders with heavily ported cases, worked carbs (by full spectrum I think), girdled head and a speedwerx dry with a 14.5/18.5 prop amd front sponsons. What are (or were 4 years ago) SS set ups like anyway?

I think they toned it down to sell cuz the domes I had in it only produce like 15psi but it still went damn near 58MPH or so (guess)

if it was an s/s motor good chance it was ported so the ports would have already been cleaned up and aligned properly... the 00 stamping may have just been a bonus

I don't see any sign of grinding and they were on the original bore. I suppost they could have been resleeved and propery OEM ported but I really don't think so.

I think 00 means something.

A properly ported cylinder shouldn't show obvious signs of grinding. Unported sleeves will show a granular surface on the vertical surfaces of the port windows. Ported sleeves will be smooth.
Also, porting doesn't necessarily require the cylinder to be bored afterwards.

Yea I'm pretty sure these are OEM then. They just show no sign of tooling yet they are perfectly aligned. Not opened up at all, just perfectly aligned.

I wouldn't see the point of running an unported cylinder on an SS boat then. Also, why is it then running ported cases? Something doesn't add up here.

I think I retract my earlier statement of removing the sleeve and reinstalling it properly lined up - if I remember correctly, the port windows on a stock sleeve are not in 100% the right position to each other to begin with.

thats what i am thinking
non stock sleeves
Most of the yamahas i see have the same terrible mismatch it actually doesnt vary much it just looks bad every time you see it

Very good point - think about this:

1.) The sleeves really shouldn't vary with the port window size and location, correct?

2.) The casting for each cylinder should be pretty close to identical

3.) The only real variation can then come from sleeve rotation - I am not buying that, as the exhaust is always lined up well, and the bottoms, too.
