So this is gonna be painstaking slow to type out. Currently only pecking with one pecker! Do to years of upholstery work and use, I basically destroyed my left hand. The x-ray should explain to a certain point what happened. I had the same surgery on my thumb 8–9 years ago on the right hand. Not quite as bad. this involved, my left thumb and my wrist, finding out that I had actually broke my wrist two times over the years. The doctor asked my wife about when I had done that? The pain would’ve been there, but quite honestly did not remember or feel anything.
Had the surgery done on Thursday and it went quite well. He did not have to fuse my wrist or use a cadaver graft to do repairs. But he did use a number of screws to put everything back together. which finding out can be quite painful one screwing into bones. And I can attest to the pain factor. As soon as the nerve block wore off, Friday morning was very painful and there wasn’t much that would relieve the pain. Other than time. I usually have a high tolerance to pain, but this was quite overwhelming. I am feeling good today and won’t be able to do much probably till the end of the month and there will be no riding for a couple of months either. Because I sure as hell don’t want to relapse. Been on Oxi to combat the effects since this all started. Tomorrow I will start weening myself off of them. wish me luck!

Ouch, hoping for a speedy recovery for you and a success letting the oxi go… My wife counsels people who became addicted, so if you feel you need to talk let me know…I’ll put you in touch with her..

I had shoulder surgery in 2019 and was on the oxi… I took almost all the first bottle then kinda panicked when I got low on pills, so I started taking less pills so I wouldn’t run out, stopped all together when i only 3 pills remaining. So I saved those 3 just in case I had pain while I went thru the refill process, which took a few days or longer cause the doc screwed up my prescription. That whole scenario freaked me the Fck out!!

But I realized after I got the refill I didn’t have enough pain to warrant taking anymore of it, so that was it.

The pharmacist drooled over my pills, these are worth so much he said, I felt like he wanted them or would buy if I wanted to sell… that was fing weird two….

@OCD Solutions it sucks, because I am left-handed.
Had rotator cuff surgery a few years ago on the left shoulder. So a lot of that relearning to use my right has not been bad. I have been dealing with the pain in my left hand for quite a while. But it came to the point of being unbearable. Or I would have waited till this fall, winter to get the surgery. And the missus has already told me if I need somebody to wipe my ass it won’t be her lol
@Harbor, that has been one of my worries with the Oxi. I stopped taking them mid day today to see where I was out on pain. Not so bad, just wondering how sleep will go tonight.

Holistic therapy can help. I am taking two substances that help to heal quicker. One is Juven, a powder mixture that you take twice a day. And also taking bromelain with arnica, twice a day. Started a week before surgery and will go two weeks afterwards. My first visit back is next Monday to cut the soft cast off so it should be interesting to see if these medicines actually do work.

They gave me 50 tabs of Hydrocodone after my sinus surgery and I only took 3 of them. Two back to back in the 12hrs after surgery and the 3rd about 3 days later so I could finally fall asleep. I joked about selling the rest to a guy at work so my wife flushed them down the toilet, lol.

My cousin tried Heroin in his early twenties and was hooked for life. Was high at work, fell and has been in a wheelchair for the last 25 years.

I just started back working a month ago and trust me it's rough, my first goal was to make it through the day without a nap, I am there now but if I really work hard one day I am pretty much out of it the next day, hopefully it will even out after a period of time.

Geez, Don! How are you going to upholster my seats for that big car show in 8 days?!
I hope you have a fast and successful recovery! I busted my hand up last June, so at least you’re 6 weeks earlier in the season than I was! Still sucks not being able to use your hand, though.
Get better!

Post 12 days from surgery update.
X-ray shows the doc removed 4 bones (marked with x), put a cadaver graft between the wrist and hand, then put an anchor in my thumb and some kind of strip to connect it back. Actually quite amazing what the surgeon did to make it work.
