Remember guys, #1 thing to do is exercise to keep off the weight. Yes diet helps a lot, but someone who just diets and doesn't exercise are more likely to just put that weight back on. A combination of weight training 3-4 days a week with 2-3 days cardio work(boxing, swimming, mtb, kettlebells, running etc...) is the key to staying strong and healthy.
Few tips on what you can do to eat healthy and keep the weight down in addition to your exercise program:
1. Cut out all breads period(that includes wheat). Eat oatmeal, brown rice, and sweet potatoes for your grains.
2. Fruits and veggies should be the staple of your diet. Nobody got fat off eating fruit and we definitely need more fiber and vitamin a and c nowadays since we eat way too many processed foods.
3. Eat lean protein. Protein keeps on your muscle tissue and helps keep the fat off your body. Chicken, salmon, tuna, sirloin, pork, etc.. are good choices. Soy is bad period. I dont care if its vegetarian or not, its so processed and has estrogen properties that males do not need any of.
4. Don't put anything on your food besides natural herbs and healthy oils(not ranch). Cinnamon works great on apples and oatmeal for example. Avoid salt and sugar(extra calories are unnecessary). If your putting an oil on your salad, make sure its extra virgin olive oil, flaxseed oil, or even fish oil( i use a lemon flavored one and its great tasting) and I use just a couple teaspoons of it. Avoid drowning your foods out with oils though, as fat grams(9 calories per gram) are higher than carbs and protein.
5. Drink water. Half your bodyweight in ounces is the amount of water you need to consume per day. Do not buy bottled water as its mostly overpriced tap water. Tap water is fine for the most part, so is distilled if its bought in the big jugs from the grocery store.
1-2 pds a week is a good goal for weightloss, but even if its a few pounds a month, thats better than nothing. Sometimes weight takes longer to come off just like it took to come on. Weight will take care of itself if you stay committed and work hard.
Good luck to all!!!!!!
