Power and Agility
Remember guys, #1 thing to do is exercise to keep off the weight. Yes diet helps a lot, but someone who just diets and doesn't exercise are more likely to just put that weight back on. A combination of weight training 3-4 days a week with 2-3 days cardio work(boxing, swimming, mtb, kettlebells, running etc...) is the key to staying strong and healthy.

Few tips on what you can do to eat healthy and keep the weight down in addition to your exercise program:

1. Cut out all breads period(that includes wheat). Eat oatmeal, brown rice, and sweet potatoes for your grains.

2. Fruits and veggies should be the staple of your diet. Nobody got fat off eating fruit and we definitely need more fiber and vitamin a and c nowadays since we eat way too many processed foods.

3. Eat lean protein. Protein keeps on your muscle tissue and helps keep the fat off your body. Chicken, salmon, tuna, sirloin, pork, etc.. are good choices. Soy is bad period. I dont care if its vegetarian or not, its so processed and has estrogen properties that males do not need any of.

4. Don't put anything on your food besides natural herbs and healthy oils(not ranch). Cinnamon works great on apples and oatmeal for example. Avoid salt and sugar(extra calories are unnecessary). If your putting an oil on your salad, make sure its extra virgin olive oil, flaxseed oil, or even fish oil( i use a lemon flavored one and its great tasting) and I use just a couple teaspoons of it. Avoid drowning your foods out with oils though, as fat grams(9 calories per gram) are higher than carbs and protein.

5. Drink water. Half your bodyweight in ounces is the amount of water you need to consume per day. Do not buy bottled water as its mostly overpriced tap water. Tap water is fine for the most part, so is distilled if its bought in the big jugs from the grocery store.

1-2 pds a week is a good goal for weightloss, but even if its a few pounds a month, thats better than nothing. Sometimes weight takes longer to come off just like it took to come on. Weight will take care of itself if you stay committed and work hard.

Good luck to all!!!!!!

I'll take any extra pounds...lol , never been able to gain a pound since high school. Been at 150 most my days, and yes I eat more than most.

nice dude.. ive been mountain biking too..

you should try out a park and ride with some guys who know the trails/terrain.. mountain biking is the most tiring physical activity ive ever tried!!

For some reason I'm thinking it will be more of a beach bike then a mountain bike. Cannondale is good shiz though.

floating around 200 lbs now, was at 214 or so a few months ago.........

Road the MTB Friday and sunday, about 5 miles each day............. But this is in the woods on trails that never go straight for longer than about 10-20 yds at the most....... There are some trails in B'Ham, about a 20 mile loop that I can go ride easier than at Sokal Park which is about 6 miles or so depending on how you ride it, lots of trails in a very small geographical location...... just imagine taking a string and lay it down twisting and turning while overlapping.........

hmmm....maybe I should get a bike. The only problem is we aren't sure where we are moving in a few months (hopefully) so I wouldn't know what kind of a bike to get.

I am still walking quite a bit almost every night. We have a gym at our clubhouse but I never go. I'm going to start going so I can do some more weight training...I have NO arm muscles what so ever. Anyone know any great exercises for your booty? haha Mine is disappearing and I don't want it to! :clown:

haha.. my wife tried to surprise me when we were dating a few years ago by taking the motorcycle endorsement class so she could get an MC license and i could get her a bike.. she got kicked out of the class.. the instructor told her something insane like "come back when you bring arms instead of twigs with you"

true story.

I have NEVER been able to do a pull up...EVER. It's sad.

you dont need disc brakes.. thats just overkill.. i have friends with $4,000 bikes.. ridiculous.... its like havign a full suspension bike in Florida.. yeah theyre nice.. but kinda overkill...

yeah, $4k bikes are crazy. I have a bike with front shocks etc - paid $800 for it like 10 years ago... beat the snot out of it and it's still a great bike. I take it trail riding (no mountains near by unless i drive about an hour away). point is, you can find a decent bike for a good price that will give you what you need.

my bike was $500 and it came w/ very nice acc. like disc brakes and rapid fire shifters... love those shifters... the twist shifts suck. it's all aluminum and weighs about 25lbs dry

disc brakes are very nice for Florida... remember the rain we get every summer evening???

Nice...looks like it costs a nice chunk of change.

I'm kind of a wuss...like I don't want to have to ride on the street...people around here drive like crazies...I am terrified of getting hit!

that's why god made sidewalks... I don't like the road either... Ormond is bike friendly too...

I don't think my area is very bike friendly...and I think it's actually against the law to ride on the sidewalks here.

Maybe we can move closer to the beach and I can ride there :Banane19::bananalama:

I looked at diferent bikes awhile back for my wife and I. We were just looking for some comfortable bikes to take rides with our little girls. Ended up deciding on Phat Cycles:

I got the Seacrest 3-Speed in Charcoal Gray and Black W/ the White Sidewalls

http://www.phatcycles.com/Phundamentals/seacrest3m.htm

My wife chose the Aloha 3-Speed in Maroon

http://www.phatcycles.com/Designer/aloha.htm

Check out the rest of the Bikes they offer---they have some sick rides! :fing02:
