Freestyle Dry suit vs wet suit

Good stuff here guys , this is the way a thread is supposed to work . Thanks for your input .... even from the tuff guys ( comic relief should be part of every thread ). Hand warmers seem like a no brainer (cheap and easy) . Sounds like semi dry 5/4 or repair my old dry suit is the best solution .

Specialfx,I hear ya on the kokatat stuff.I love it,I use their gore tex dry suit, with 200 weight polar tech underneath, super warm and comfy........kayac gear is closest to what we do as far as exposure to cold water and exertion levels the gore tex really keeps ya from overheating.its like a controlled perfect temp all the time. How does the 2 piece system work with the neo neck gasket,The only draw back to the latex neck gasket is after a few rides in a row it starts irritating my neck

Guys, take it from a cold water riding nut! An xcel drylock is a hard to beat suit. I have tried a few different true dry suits and a few semi drys. This is considered a semi dry because you wear it with shorts like a regular wetsuit. It is infinately more comfortable than any bag dry suit and most of the time my shorts will still be totally dry when Im done riding. Ive been out on lake michigan with ice chunks floating by me and it literally feels lime you are sitting in a hot tub. I have the 4/3 hoodless so I dont have to wear my hood on nicer days, but can add the boots and hood for the really cold days. It is just as comfortable as wearing my regular jet tribe race suit. They are a little expensive but worth every penny when it comes to staying warm and still being flexible enough to shred the winter surf on lake Michy.

what dry suits have you tried,Ive got the nicest semi dry suit 4/3 super flexy psycho3 wet suit made with 7 mill boots, and it isnt even close to as nice as a kokatat dry suit with a comfy set of sweats or polartecs as a base layer.using wool socks under the built in booties and reg ride shoes. Its so flippin nice to get back to the ramp and unzip and climb out easy and already be in warm clothes and just drive home. just putting a 4/3 on and taking it off is a pita. Having a perfect size cut latex neck gasket and a cinch belt in a dry suit is critical though..

the fuse ion series dry suit arrived, looks realy nice. alittle heavy but fits great. testing will be done this weekend and ill report back with info.
