A Hurricane Watch has been declared for Florida now. The Governor has declared a State of Emergency. Visitors have been asked to evacuate the Keys and South Florida. Winds are currently 50mph.
At this point, the Miami area can expect impact felt tomorrow evening and the Tampa area can expect impact felt on Tuesday morning.
Four deaths have been reported in the islands due to flooding, and that number can expect to climb as reports come in.
I hope everyone posting in this thread (or any other thread) takes this time to reflect back on how they handled themselves with regards to personal differences. It’s rather disheartening to me that when we have such a serious thread only one click away, one or two people can still manage to lose sight of what is truly important in life, {edit} and instead allow {edit closed} petty differences and egos to surpass all that is precious on this earth (I mean it speaks volumes). It makes it appear the true significance of our recent loss has been truly lost on one or two souls, not to mention it simply brings everyone down. That said, many people handled themselves quite better than their norm, so props to you I guess. Perhaps it is a good time to attempt to learn new ways of handling issues, and if not, just do everyone a favor and pretend you learned something from losing a fellow jet skier, have genuine remorse, and the I.Q. to be capable of connecting the dots here. Everyone grieves differently, but that’s no excuse.
Back on topic, this tropical storm may not even get categorized as a hurricane due to the eye-wall becoming further disorganized while passing over Cuba, but we shall find out soon enough. Hopefully everyone realizes multiple tornadoes could still be spawned (particular in the front right quadrant), and that flooding is something to take seriously. If anyone feels they need a safe place to evacuate to, I will do what I can to assist…simply pm me.
