I always charge more for shipping .Packaging costs money and the GAS and time to drive to the Post Office and wait in line .How much is your time worth,I know mine is worth a lot .

It's shipping and "handling"

I just shipped some sponsons and a ride plate to Australia.
Express mail 2-3 days for the sponsons was $60.00 and 4-6 weeks for the ride plate was $24.00 my cost at USPS.

His price is way over though just maybe he thought you wouldn't complain.
I always complain about shipping when I buy something however but as a buyer you have to charge more than what the actual shipping costs are:headbang:

Wax, you really seem to get the winners that you deal with on eBay. Didn't you have another thing with the core cylinder a few weeks back? How'd that end up.

I believe that the majority of shipments from US to Australia will go via the US Postal Service, so both you and the seller can clearly see what the actual price will be at www.usps.gov.

Ask him what the dimensions and weight were that he used for the basis of the shipping and then go to the website to get an idea.

The $90.00 for n intake is insane.

Also, not sure if you are aware or not, but if you buy something that can fit into a cardboard envelope, the US Postal Service has a Global Priority Mail that is $9.50 regardless of weight from US to Australia. I actually got a bike saddle into this envelope and shipped it to Australia. Something like a stator or coil can easily fit into there (with a little risk of damage of course, but you get the idea).

Also, if he sent you an invoice with a shipping amount on it, I am pretty sure that that is the legal binding agreement that you and the seller are committed to. If he asks for more money than that afterwards, then you have every right to file an "Item Not Received" to get your payment back. Tell him that and see where this goes.

Hope this helps,

Joe

I do seem to get some strange ones
i think its because i live in australia that they can get away with it
because its on the other side of the world

OK. If you already paid him, then copy and paste the following in an email to him (I am assuming that you don't want the item if you have to pay additional shipping):

Hello again. You seem frustrated with me and I apologize. However, as I understand, we are bound to this transaction by the details contained in the invoice that you sent me. If you are asking for more shipping, I don't believe that is fair and I do not want the item. Please simply refund my money, afterwards you can file a "Mutual Transaction Not Completed" and I will respond to it so that you can receive a refund of the Final Value fees. If you are not able to do this, I will file an "Item Not Recieved" report to eBay to obtain my refund (afterwards I will still happily respond to a "Mutual Transaction Not Completed" of you submit it). Kind Regards, Wax.

I leave negative feedback for people who mark up shipping. I also received negative feedback for not paying marked up shipping. If you are going to mark it up it should be stated in your ad. Yes is does cost money to drive to the Post Office however that is part of doing business. If my car breaks down on the way to the Post Office should I charge the buyer for repairs? Where do you draw the line?

Also I don't know why some people have such a hard time with International shipping. If you can turn on a computer you can fill out a customs form.

$30.00 for a cylinder and pistons seems low to me .
I just shipped a ride plate and it cost $24.00 my cost not to mention the box and tape and time to mail it .
How much does a cylinder and pistons weigh ??

Also remember that the buyer is responsible for shipping charges and he could easily say he made a mistake on his original invoice.

Why would he ship it for less than it costs him ? that would be stupid

If a store puts the wrong price on something they DO NOT have to sell it for that price ,they usually will in good faith anyway but don't have to .:headbang:
Just pay the man ,weigh a cylinder and pistons and calculate it yourself and tell him you'll pay $5.00 more than that for packaging .

Shipping prices have gone through the roof lately too .

well when mile sent me a cylinder it was half what he wanted to charge charged me the first time
and now he wants to add more to it

does it depend on the seller how much the post office charge them

I've had situations like this before, both as a seller and a buyer. What will usually happen is that the seller will likely not leave negative feedback for fear of retaliation. If Wax writes what I gave him above, the seller will realize that he does not have the right to mark up shipping after the invoice is sent and that the seller is definitely in the wrong here.

All it depends on is location and weight of the item and how fast or slow the shipping is .

Price it yourself man http://ircalc.usps.gov/default.asp?Problem=ProbWeight&badweight=negative&Country=Argentina&Pounds=0&Ounces=1&cmdSubmit=Continue&Contents=0,
shipping is a lot more expensive in the last couple months because of gas prices I suspect

I dont believe your right but I don't know for sure.
but he can say he made a mistake on his invoice and send a new one ,I've done this after I quoted a person for shipping bumpers to UK and I weighed it at home on my not to accurate scale and charged him a price and then it cost me 5 more bucks so I charged the buyer .

The buyer paid no problem when I explained what it cost me .

The seller is responsible for what he writes in communications (the invoice) as is the buyer, so if there was a mistake, it is unfortunate for the seller.

Perhaps he can ship through his job and they subsidize or give shipping discounts and he wanted to be nice (clearly not in this case though).

In this case, the seller (store) does not have to sell it at a price that is going to lose him money on shipping and if that is the case, then he should just give that option to Wax. Here, the seller is forcing Wax to pay additional money or lose some of what he already took from him.

I would have no problem either, for $5-$10 more, but in this case, if I understand correctly, it sounds like the seller is asking for a lot more money above the $30.00.
