Electric powered beach Karts ?

I'm working on a little idea and need some of your input. I was thinking about the beach carts we used in Bama (it was my first time... shonuff help me and he was very gentle ). I think you could build one that is belt driven using an electric scooter motor. Of course it came to me as I was putting my skis in pond Sunday afternoon. I was looking at my truck that had sunk to the frame at 45 degree angle about 10 feet in the lake. Sh%^% was floating out of the back of the bed and It suddenly came to me..... BEACH KART !! that's why people have beach carts. Any way 80 bucks and a big semi wrecker pulled me out .

Q : do they make motorized karts

Q : If they don't. Has anyone here ever made one

I've looked at the dimensions of the motor. Only 4 inchs in dia . It could easily be mounted toward the handle and high enough to stay out of the water. Belt driven no chain to rust . Granted it would be great if you enclosed the motor .

The one that I've seen has a real easy detachable motor. So after loading the ski on and away from the water you pop the motor on, connect a quick connect plug and away you go.

not a bad idea! electric motors in rc boats sometimes get wet. you just have to find one that will work, i'm not talking about submerging it but a little water won't hurt,

we had a mini bike frame with a chevy truck starter motor that ran directly off a battery it scooted like crazy. with the right gearing i dont think it would be that difficult. finding the right belt setup could be tricky. I was thinking lawn mower pulley setup but they dont work that great when wet.

I dont think that will have enough power to push a cart w/ski through the sand.

I all has to do with proper gearing, the hp dosen't really come into play there,if it will push a 200+ lb human on a goped at 20-30mph it should push a ski through the sand at 2mph ,I have a friend working on one of these now he will probably chime in shortly.

I beg to differ as a ski and a cart weigh prolly around 350, then with big tires going uphill in the sand... I just cant see it happening.

A car/truck starter motor is a better idea IMO.

I have a gas powered RC car that weighs 35lbs.....it will pull wheelies and run close to 60

the motor is a 29cc ported go ped motor with tuned pipe rated at nearly 7hp....

gear it right and it'd work..I have no doubt

it might not run all the way up the beach by itself, but it'd make a hell of an "assist"

The problem with using a starter motor is they weren't designed for that.

You're going to have a cooling problem if you use a starter motor.
