US composites order came in. Starting reinforcement.

1) handpole bracket area - foam depressions and 3 layers 1708 biaxial.
2) reinforce nose - 3 layers 1708 biaxial
3) firewall
4) both sides
5) glass footholds and tray

Nice work so far!

why are you reinforcing the firewall?

Thanks man.

why am I reinforcing the firewall? - Just cuz I was told that this was an area that I should reinforce... I don't really know why to be honest.

I was told to just do the firewall down to just above the intermediate shaft.

i dident due to i ride in lake erie more then the ocean. 99% of the time... extra weight was just not needed.... for the extra little support. just my opinion. also why i dident do the bottom. that was just my buddys idea and i went with it

how much of a pain in the ass was reinforcing under the handlepole area???

i know my buddys square could use it there cause its super weak but my roundnose feels pretty solid in that spot.????

shoudl i be thinking about this while i have the motor out ???

im reinforcing the sides only right now and did footholds....

thanks, Bruce

Looking good bro!

Motoman, i would do under the pole bracket area for sure. Esp on a SN!

It's not that difficult - flip the ski over on a shop stand... you can crawl right under it... and stick your head and at least one arm up in side to do everything.

screw the firewall...

Hey guys. I still think I may do the firewall... still debating it...

The nose was not that hard if you have the whole ski torn apart like I do. I already had the entire engine compartment cleaned out and the handpole off... basically not one fastener left in the ski but for the pump area.

Like frosty said- find a way to flip your ski over. I covered the holes with tape on the outside, then covered the tape with a piece of cardboard and then taped that. I put little pieces of balled up tape into all the holes hoping that they would block most of the resin from filling the holes... we will see how good that worked this weekend.

It wasnt really that hard. If I had to do it over though I would have set up a fan to blow up on me as I was doing it... with the lights I was using in my garage to shine up in there I was sweating my bizalls off...

well i had time during lunch to run to the garage and lay up the sidewall on mine...i flipped it over and poured out the foam....i ran out of mat there so i have to grab some from home....im gona go back to the garage and shave the foam down some so its flat for laying the glass and give it a go....

its really a pain to get my arms up in there though for sure...

im taking your advice and just going for it though... may as well since i have my bracket off, all the mounting hardware removed as well and the motor, tank, and waterbox out too.

thanks for the advice and good luck on your build.....

back to your regular thread...(sorry for the threadjack)

No Problem! Yeah.... might as well do it now since the ski is stripped.... you could always take everything apart again and do it later for fun! :scratchchin:
