hate to throw oil on this fire but my trusty suzuki bible states "use SF/SG or SH/SJ in API classification".this classification applies to most regular motor oils on the market so price of the oil should not have any influence on said oil as long as the API criterias have been met.
wet clutch, schmet clutch.manufacturers use clutch coumpounds that allow use of regular motor oil (within API classification)so their customer can actually find the oil easily and also not create another classification unique to their product.it'a way of conforming to API instead of the other way around.
the higher priced oils might have an additive package that will allow them to last longer or survive higher temps or whatever you want to throw at them.
for plugs, seeing that most of us change them often enough in the first place, the brand is probably irrelevent.
it's a common misconception amongst the powersport crowd that champion plugs are an inferior product when very few of us have actually tried them on our own machinery.
i'm sure that he'll be satisfied with champions just as well as ngk or any other brand.
it just comes down to personal preference in the end.
all plug manufacturers meet certain quality standards that are self established for the most part but are dictated by the end user in the long term.knowing this, none of them are going to put a vastly inferior product on the market lest they actually savor loosing market shares.:scratchchin:
