The octane issue is only a problem with the clear/white jugs, right? Why not just get a dark colored jug? If you race, IJSBA rules specify red jugs anyway.

I have all different colors, including red for race days. I talked to vp, and they recommend covering any of their jugs when exposed to sunlight. The dude I spoke with had all sorts of info regarding uv resistance and plastics. He actually recommended storing fuel in the metal pails that my race gas comes in, if it won't be used for a while. The guys at Powermist concur with his info.

That's good info to know. I had no idea the UV would penetrate the darker colored jugs.

I believe they said a few months in plastic, longer in a sealed steel pail. They also said way longer in a larger drum, and indefinitely if it was stored using compressed nitrogen. Kinda like a beer keg. When the "light ends" go away, the fuel is stale. I was told you can bring it back by adding 25% of the volume with new fuel.

My vents came yesterday and are stupid easy to install;
Drill a 1/16” pilot hole, drill a 1/2” main hole, push in cap until it snaps into place.

I used my shop vac while I drilled. One jug was empty but the other was full. I inspected afterwards and didn’t see any debris in either jug.
