Super Jet filling up with water!!!!

Location

First time riding my super jet today. It was fun, but after like 20 minutes it started acting sluggish and cutting out. I rode a little while more and noticed it was VERY heavy. I took the hood off and it was filled with water. Now, my question is, what is happening? Is it leaking? Or is the bilge not working? I am thinking of installing an aftermarket bilge.

I am guessing either a cooling line popped off or your exhaust coupler popped off. They don't fill up that fast! Empty it...set it in the water with the hood off and look for water coming in....if you don't see any, start it up and look for smoke...whereever there is smoke...that is your problem.

Yeah I checked the exhaust coupler and saw nothing. I didn't see any smoke and the water didn't look oily. I will have to check/confirm this later. I hope its not something bad! lol.

Stuff happens, oh well!

My guess is your anti-siphon loop for your stock bilge. I would bet its laying in the bottom of the hull doing the complete opposite of anti siphoning. When you let it sit, its filling the hull with water.

Also
if the coupler came off, you would notice it more than water getting everywhere. There would be fumes in the bay\oil everywhere.

UHHHH it wouldn't run. Or if it did, extremely poorly on one cylinder is what it would feel like.

check you stock bilge system first, mine was reverse siphoning and filling up. put the ski in the water and run it up against the dock or on the trailer with the hood off, youll see where the water is coming from.

I'm guessing the stock bilge system does not work at all. It is not sucking up any water. I plan to add an aftermarket bilge system. I don't see any water coming in from anywhere, I think that when I crash and the ski goes under water it gets water in the ski and the bilge does not remove it. I put a bolt in the bilge and still nothing. It doesn't suck any water and has no suction when running. Maybe its clogged or something, I don't know.

It looks like the stock bilge is in fact the problem. I took a look at the bilge system and it looks like its vacuum operated. It takes the water/air coming from the impeller and that water goes through a big tube out the back of the ski. There is a smaller line (goes to the bilge) and the pressure difference creates a vacuum. Since there was a rock jammed in my line (not the bilge line) there wasn't any vacuum and that is why the bilge did not work.

i had the same issue the first time i took my ski out. let it sit for 30 min and the thing filled up almost to the head. just rout that hose with the 90deg fiting in it up as high as possible. also check your exaust manifold gasket.. when flushing mine i noticed it was leaking a good amount. and lastly install an electric bilge. always nice to be able to flip that switch and know your ridin dry.

told ya not to buy a superjet.
they are weak. the crack. they leak. the tray may be loose from the ski. then it will take on water. there may be a small crack in hull that you arent aware of.
otherwise i would think its coming from the midseal.....im not a huge fan of superjets.
especially the old ones. most have been ragged beyond repair.
the new ones break like they are made of glass
in before i get hated on by superjet fans.
just my opinion.

Also check your hood, along the bottom edges where it contacts the hood seal. I've been getting lots of water, I assumed the stock seal was just bad, but on the front the bottom of my hood is warped and has a crack/hole. So it's not sealing, and there is a small 1/4" hole that lets water in, time for a new hood and hood-mod!

hilarious!
ya that must be it. sj are crappy.

I had it one time where my ski was filling up. I looked everywhere and finally found a water line rubbing on the midshaft. It would only leak when the ski was running.
