Picked up a '90 SN with a decently built 701. However it definitely does need some TLC. Going to try to have this thing done within a 2 week time frame.

And what it looked like within a couple of hours after bringing it home:

Lots of goodies going on this thing, pics and updates to come.

Prepped nearly the entire ski for turf today and got most of the hand pole assembled. After the prepping it's just a waiting game for all of the orders I made today for parts.

Update:

Worked on the ski on and off all week. The ride plate was broken (looked like a bad D-cut) but I figured I'd try my best to fix it while I wait for an aftermarket plate. Went for something similar to a D-cut but just messed around it making my own design. Probably won't be very efficient but it will do for the meantime.

Also was able to take apart the carbs and head to make sure everything looked great and to redo the torquing to make sure everything was set to go. Greased the prop up and installed just about everything besides the intake grate which is unfortunately on back order.

Thanks man. I had a Cobra then a notch and I have to say, the notch was definitely a fun toy.

That is a ton of miles!

Update:

Finally a handful of my parts arrived so I was able to get moving on getting on the rest of the build. I am still waiting on a few other things for the engine before I can start piecing that together but in the meantime I have prepped the ski and began the turf. I was also able to install the handpole and do a few other electrical things.

I am going to turf the nose of it. The front of it has a big part of it cut out and I am going to reinforce it with an aluminum bracket of some sort either today or tomorrow before I put the turf on the nose. I'll probably fiberglass it over the winter but for the meantime I will just put the bracket on there.

Patience is definitely king for turfing. Can't wait to get the turfing all done.

Cut and placed the tray mat yesterday. Also wired the start/stop switch, the bilge, and put elbows on the bilge hoses to fit for the new exhaust (no pictures of that in this update though).

Waiting two more packages before I can assemble the engine into place. Also have to touch up some of the side rail turf and take care of the nose. Hoping to have that done today.

I am trying to figure that out now. I am thinking of making some type of template. It is going to be a process, I can feel it. Not helping that it is 99 degrees out today either.

I turfed the nose earlier today, it really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. The only issue was that it was over 90 degrees in my garage and since it is a tedious project I was burning up pretty bad.

For those of you who were asking or any others wanting to know how to do the nose, here is how I did it. I am still new at turfing but this is what worked for me and what I learned. I made a cardboard template for the curvature on the top part of the nose (the curve where the nose cover fits into the slots). Once I marked that I went ahead and cut it out that little section making sure to leave everything sloping to the left and right of that piece uncut. Once you have that piece out you can masking tape the piece in place on top and simply push the turf down, mark it on the inside, and cut it as you go. I also pushed the turf up a bit before making the tow hole because once you put that piece in there it will drag the turf down a bit. Other than that it is pretty self explanatory. I'd just make sure to hit it with a rubber mallet to ensure the glue is sticking as best as possible and clamp it for a while to let it dry. Also make sure you apply the contact cement to the turf first and then the ski. Let it sit for at least 5-10 min to get tacky beforehand otherwise it will not stick correctly. Patience is key.

I have a few other turf touch ups to do this week a bunch of engine installations. Pushing for completion by Sunday!
