Finally rode a sit down this past weekend in Havasu

Still Fat....
Well we were in Havasu for the July 4th weekend and had a GREAT time, despite being tired and wiped out lol

So... We stayed at the Nautical Inn Resort and rented a sit down for the day
Well it was a Seadoo GTI 130 model and out went me and the wife went on it

Man.....
How the FAWK do people ride those things?
they are so difficult ride, i am so impressed people can ride them
we were cruising up past copper canyon at a decent speed and next thing we knew we were hanging on to the side for our dear lives, the fawk'n thing went on its side and i was thinking how the fawk do i get this fawking tank off us and uprighted... scared the hell out of me
not to mention riding it, my "junk" did not appreciate getting bounced up and down on the seat, and my freaking shoulders were killing me from riding and steering it, not to mention i have bruises all over my legs, now looking like the Atlas, you can see africa and Australia on my legs lol
not to mention they are like so uncontrollable when coming near shore or trying to stop or roll at slow speeds
i see people riding them all the time thinking wow.... that must be cool to just get out blast away on one... boy was i mistaking....
we gave it back after an hour of use. as we went under the London bridge and through the channel i was petrified i was going to hit someone, and the thought the damage it could cause.. You can kill people on those suckers... we ran a 1/4 of tank of gas, drove it back to the rental place, and i said this POS is so fawking hard to ride, keep it.
he said, you paid for the whole day... i said fawk it, not worth dieing on it. he said i can refund you some $$ back, i said i can careless, just get me away from that thing, i'll take it a lesson learned to never ride one again

went back, fueled up our skis, and had way more fun. i just felt so much more in control. I felt like it was very hard to have an open vision on an uncontrollable machine..... not to knock them, but man i am impressed people can ride those things, and HOLLY poop...... have you see the sizes of some of them? saw some new models at Walts in LHC, OMG... do you need like a class 1 drivers license for them or what... they are MASSIVE, ladders on them, mirrors, reverse, seats that look better then the ones i have in my race car, i mean what's next a hurst shifter to row some gears?

After riding it, i have to say, anyone who dares to jump waves with one or ride one.... has my respect..... i just know not for me

:lmao: Real men ride couches. :jester:

U remember the year of the ski? I like the early 90's hull. Not very stable for sitting but very nimble.

you can turn fine on a couch. you just have to lean with the ski. i guess it isnt so easy with someone on the back. ive been jumping on a couch until i can get a standup. good control, but no air

is this thread a joke?

nope
just saying.... i'm impressed people can ride them

i know people say riding a stand up is difficult..... to us.... no way
i'll admit i have very little boat driving experience as well, so perhaps that is why it was difficult
the wifey even rode it and said here you drive it, i don't like it

now perhaps it is the ski/hull that made it somewhat rough, but when i see people riding them (single, two people or three) i can only imagine how difficult it is

i'd say it was boring as poop too, but i can't probably because i was to worried about crashing into things, not to mention you barely get wet on them, get a nice wind burn though
just absolutely no fun factor to us and no way in hell we would buy one.... ok... yes i will admit it we contemplated on buying some to add as toy fun, but glad we tested before we did

just stating i have respect for them, and or course boats too

its been over 17 years since we rode one, and maybe some people have never rode one, just giving some feedback

No. It is just as easy. Turn as sharp as you can to try to throw the passenger off.

My bet is he hit a wave wrong.

i absolutely could have, or gotten in some wake mess, which we didn't see coming
i see people riding them all the time doing things on them, and i am like how the heck do the do it
guess its all personal preference

So wait.... you can ride a stand up.... but you have troubles riding a sit down? ................what gives?

Yup...
just find them more difficult to ride
maybe because i am just so used to the stand up, i dont know
we just did not like it at all
and as i mentioned before, i don't have experience driving a boat either, so i seriously doubt i can pull a boat up to a dock without wrecking into things, sort of the same feeling i had on the sit down

i know people knock riding stand ups as the hardest thing in the world, i just felt it opposite
i did talk to one other person this weekend about it, and funny, they agreed too, found it more difficult to drive the sit down versus the stand up

I am kicking myself for parting out our B2 now............ I would love to take Izzy out on the lake............. What was I thinking.

Honestly, I can enjoy a nice cruise up the lake on one.......

That's my bet. Could also be the specific boat. Try a Yamaha or Kawi, IMO.

Didn't stop our governor from driving his big ol' boat INTO the dock. He got away scott free (or SCOTCH free in his case). Maybe you can too. :jester:

must have been something seriously wrong with the ski, they are like driving a boat normally. did you bother to look and see why the nozzle turned hard while you were going in a straight line?? and yes its jet powered, let off the throttle it doesnt turn.

Rules of using a sit down

1. Sit down
2. Steer left to go left
3. Steer right to go right
4. Throttle on the left side of the bars

Its so easy a caveman does it.
