First North American Trixstar S Build

Got @TOBY's new footholds glassed in today. Did I mention that the front foothold is part of the mold? One less thing to have to glass in later and much stronger because it's part of the layup.

Busted my ass today, I'm trying to get this thing finished so I can test it out this weekend with a Dasa 10mm 1100. Today I installed all the cooling, trim lines etc. Installed the carbon pump shoe, made an experimental intake fin for this hull (the next one gets a normal intake grate.) Working on installing the handle pole and hood hooks right now. Once the glue cures enough on the stuff in the tray I'm going to do some deck bondage tonight.

Looks like my hydro turf order won't be here in time with my under pad, does anybody have an alternative so I can pad my footholds? I have turf, just not the padding.

Most closed cell sleeping pads will work. Like the kind you get at walmart. Or harbor freight fatigue pad.

I've heard of people using yoga mat for under padding

I haven't noticed whether you've stated that these hulls will be "foamed" or not. Will it be standard, an option or has not been considered yet? Good deal on the front foothold being part of the mold. I'm no material stress engineer, but can understand that it has to be superior in strength to on that is "cut" in at a later time. By how much really isn't an issue to me, the fact that it is stronger is a plus. Can a hull be built without the FF is a buyer would rather?

Foam will be an option, front foothold is also optional.

I'm trying a couple experimental things on my first hull to see if they work. One is that I'm using the engine plate as an integrated splash guard. I have it open just in front of the fuel tank pod and open to the tray at the back. My thoughts are that any water in the hull will go under the engine plate, back into the tray and out the versi plugs instead of splashing up the side and going into the carbs. I also have a standard scupper and tube on top of the engine plate for any water that may be sitting on top of it.

Well the open plate/splash guard is a good idea but depending on water entry point will ultimately determine functionality since these freestyle hulls are rarely on plane or anywhere near level. If you place the hood breather tubes in front of the splash guard plates edge that will greatly improve your intended use. Every little bit helps though and it places you one step above others imo. good luck.

Didn't end up finishing it for the weekend, I was out of town for 6 days, but I got some work done on it. Got the decks bonded, handle pole installed and started on the turf. Plans changed and I'm going to throw a bone stock 61x in it with a stock pump and hooker prop to see what it can do with that, then the big boy motor goes in to see what the hull is really capable of. It's finally starting to look like a jetski.

Yeah I like it. I agree with putting a lower HP motor in it so you can really "feel' the hull. I really like the front where it meets the pole/pole bracket. Really smooth. Top it off with a Kawi stroker and a big green Kawi sticker on it, thing will be tits!
