As promised a few weeks back, my main priority as part of taking over the program at The BOB Hull is to expand from hand-laid to vacuum infusion. So over the past couple weeks, I have been playing with a few smaller parts, but this past week, I went ahead and infused my first Carbon Fiber hood shell & liner for my 2013 personal ski. Everything came out perfect on the first try, so today I attempted my first bottom deck, and the infusion process couldn't have gone any better.
I'll be practicing the infusion process on a handful of our own personal hulls to build up some experience, but in 2013, The BOB Hull will be offering hulls in a Vacuum Infusion option.
I will post pictures of the infused bottom deck once it has finished the curing process, but for now, I've attached a photo of a black gel coat hood shell and a visual carbon hood liner. Finished carbon fiber hood is approximately 4-5lbs. I estimate the finished hull & hood to weigh in at about 50lbs.
