First Superjet!!! Stoked!!!

So I've had a couple kawi 550s but have been looking for a Superjet for some time now. I came across this little diamond in the rough with a price tag I couldn't pass on. Only paid $1500 for this '96 SJ decked out with riva parts!! The ski runs great but it's not to easy on the eyes. Since winter is just beginning, I plan to pull the motor to clean it inside out and repaint it.

Anyone have any knowledge on these aftermarket parts or what I should move onto next since there's already been a lot of work to it???

looks like a pretty cool old beater race boat. its probably already all set up and has max power. I wouldn't change anything or you'll probably make it perform worse. go to the dollar store and get a can of oven cleaner, spray it all over. let it sit for awhile and pressure wash the crap out of it. cover the carb openings with rubber gloves or plastic bags. start it up as soon as you're done washing just to make sure no water got in the motor. I sometimes use gas and a tooth brush to clean crusty oily crap

What Buzzard said. Clean her up really good. Might want to consider replacing fuel lines, definatley replace the fuel filters and empty gas tank out and clean it. The pipe looks to be the RIVA Spec 2 Wet Pipe. It is a pretty good pipe, close to performance of the B Pipe....... Definitely and old race ski.

I am definitely going to clean it up nicely! I'm trying to decide how I want to paint it... The previous owner told me i should get wild with the paint job.

Also, the hull is setup with three pissers but I noticed only one is actually in use. I would like to get the other two functional but the head seems to only be setup for the one... I was thinking of just putting a splitter on the one line just so they're in use.

Any ideas?? You can see it in the pictures above

if it was my ski, I wouldn't even paint it. i'd take the boyesen stickers off and the ugly yellow number plate. i'd get rid of all the purple plastic that was rattle canned black and looks like hell.

Baby jesus that was a steal. That's stock 650 square nose price around here. Novi carbs, head, girldle kit, exhaust, intake grate, and that's just what the pics show.

Clean up probably won't happen for a while... I keep it at my camp on the lake and there's no heat.... I don't have a garage where I live so it'll probably be an early spring project. Winters aren't the best in upstate NY.

Yeah, the previous owner did it, I was planning on throwing on my wetsuit and running it quick but once he said he already winterized it I decided not to...

Man our long sucky Winters are the PERFECT time for a project though! But yea you need at least a small garage...

You've got 2 outlets on the head which could be run to pissers. How many fittings are on the manifold? I imagine it would have 3. Is the chamber water jacketed? The two closest to exhaust port are inlets. Then the one near the coupler could be moved to the chamber fitting that's currently being fed from the head as the picture shows. And from there the outlet of the pipe chamber would be t'd to stinger and 3rd pisser.

lol I grew up in Rochester. AZ is much kinder on the ability to enjoy things all year long.

There is only one inlet on the manifold and three on the pipe. One by the chamber, one mid-pipe, and one by the stinger. I've read a few posts and diagrams on dual cooling where people run one of the head outlets to a pisser and T off the line to the stinger for a second pisser but nothing about having a third pisser. I think there might have been a different pipe on the ski at one point that allowed for three but I'm not sure.... I just want to make sure that however I route the third pisser, it's not taking too much water away from the waterbox.

You could still have 3 with that pipe set up as a parallel system (assuming it's a dry pipe) One inlet going to the manifold, dual outlets from the head, and bring cold water into the pipe and out of it thru a restrictor or an oem bypass with the smaller outlet. Dual outlets from the head is better for even heat across the cylinders. The cold water line for the pipe would also be good for adding a t to water injection solenoid.
