First time build - FX-1

Ya that would work I fix the issue of modifying everything but the whole foothold would then be angled. I know you know what I'm talking about when I say that but in case anyone else is following this and is confused here is another drawing

Brandon I would really recommend just going with "normal" footholds. You can get sweet ones that fit the fx1 with no hassle for 70 bucks. I'll help you with the install, not hard at all. Plus let's ride boyd saturday. I shortened my pole 3" and put a new prop in.

I don't like the way normal footholds make your feet angle out. Maybe it's just because the only holds I have used were set up for other people but they also always seem to be in the wrong place for me. I figured if i installed traditional holds in a spot I didn't like I would be pissed and have to rip it all out and start over. These give me adjustability in case I change my mind on where I thought the best spot was. Btw, I'm riding at cherry creek Saturday. It's pretty far from you but if you are bored you should come down and ride. There are a few guys that said they would come out. If you decide to come make sure you go to the west side, not the east.

My holds do not angle out, but some like eme do really bad. but your call. ill think about cherry creek. you should also shorten your pole, pretty easy I did it with the pole still on the ski.

Ok so im completely out of my epocy resin and I still have two holes in the hood to patch. The guy before me cut out two breather holes or whatever just under where the pole sits. it seems like a good way to sink my ski when I sub. I wish I could slap the previous owner..... anyway, I want to finish that tonight so I can spray primer tomorrow. Can I use this stuff from home depot or do you see any reason why not? http://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-1-qt-All-Purpose-Fiberglass-Resin-20122/202077790

I also have evercoat formula 27 filler laying around that has never been opened. I know it would be thick but could I just use that as a thick epoxy over a layer of glass?

I used the exact same stuff on my FX1 build and it worked great and is still holding up great after 3 years

What do you guys think, is it worth glassing over those holes on the top? I guess since the hoods already have holes in them on the tray side it shouldn't make much of a difference. What do you guy think?

If you need some epoxy I can ship you a small batch. Won't be until Thursday though. The resin at Home Depot is polyester resin, and cheap polyester resin at that. You can use it, but it forms a weaker mechanical bond than epoxy and tends to want to delaminate in areas with a lot of stress and flex. If you are just covering up some breather holes, it should be fine. Just rough sand the surface, clean it really well.

Thanks Nate! I appreciate the offer! I think I'll just leave it stock for now. I'm sure plenty of guys have subbed much deeper and more often than I will with the same vents. I just thought they were added vents. The last thing I want is to add additional ways for water to get in but since they are stock I'm not as worried anymore. Thanks again for the offer.

You can just put some thick duct tape. I know I know.. But hey it comes in colors and different wacky patterns now! over the holes up top or the front holes that are in the front of the hood near the handpole area. try running them open as if stock. Then if you feel too much water is forcing its way in.. tape it off, then based on what your preference is .... leave them open or close them off. just don't close them all up!
