Staying true to the Ski Clinic's reputation the ski has quality issues. I purchased the ski knowing this so not much of a surprise. Having said that I do like the ski and very much enjoy the way it rides. So here I am!
Issues; Most of these are pretty minute but they all add up to a significant amount of water and weight in the ski while riding.
-Bondrails leak - water poors out of them when I come back to shore.
-There is still some water in the bond rails even after the ski has not seen water since September.
-The tray leaks
-The engine bay also leaks
-Trim cable is being "sealed" with 5200
-Exhaust outlet leaks
-Scupper leaks
-More I am sure I still haven't found yet.
-People asking me if my name is Bob
Plan to fix everything:
-Going to grind in between the bond rails and seal with epoxy resin and micro spheres and maybe some cabosil if needed.
-Not sure yet but might do a layer of 4oz s-glass over the rails to help seal them.
-In the engine bay, going grind out the top layer of poorly hand laid carbon, fix a small leak where the carbon did not fully wet out in lay up and any other issues I find.
-Cover the engine bay and firewall in a layer of 6oz s-glass and maybe a second layer of 4oz
-Cut open the tray
-Remove the foam
-Fix leaks
-Put in a layer of 6oz s-glass in the tray
-Add a second "home depot" scupper to the xmetal scupper tube
-Figure out a way to seal off the trim tube 100%
-Remove Bob sticker and put something else in its place. Fickter, Crash, SuperFreek, Fantom, Twister, xshout. I am open to ideas.
Cut a small hole in the tray to get an idea of what I am dealing with. Going to start back up when my new respirator and goggles come in.
Carbon that peeled up in the engine bay with foam underneath.
Thank god it is not all two part foam! =)
Pic of me trying to tame the wild b.o.b.
