Good move! Myself and a friend both have tom21 conversion hoods and they have held up great. Goodluck with your build.

I've never actually seen a fixed steer conversion before, pretty cool.

Are the bars still mounted to a handle pole of some kind? I assume they are not just attached to the hood. Do you just weld the handle pole in place? How do you keep it from pivoting?

Right but what keeps you from just ripping the hood off? Nothing?

search some fixed steer builds. the hood replaces the handle pole. It is locked down to the ski with the hood latch or a strap. When unlatched, the steering and the entire hood pivot up in the pole bracket.

check the middle build in my sig if you want some more pictures.

Idk. Been running mine like that for a year. Flip and roll it in the surf no problem. I had Tom make mine thick though. Wasn't concerned with weight as mine is a surfboat. I don't even run a strap.

Make sure you pack that foam in there tight. Im not a fan of that foam. If its not tight it will move and the side of the ski can flex and break. The expandable foam makes it more rigid and stronger when it comes to impact. Imo

So after a few months of doing nothing with this between school work and being generally lazy, I ordered some glass to finish this up. My hood will be paid off friday so im excited about that. Now I just need to buy my hooker and paint to finish this thing up!

Here are some pictures of the hood and nose piece

make sure to sand the entire sides not just the ribs. Do it with 36 grit so the surface is very rough for the glass to adhere to.

Hurry up! riding season is here.

i it with some heavy grit paper we had in the shop i don't recall the grit #. its coming along finally, i wish i would have started sooner lol.

Looking good!
As long as you are getting dusty, go ahead and grind & rough up the upper half of the hull inside of the tray to throw some cloth there also.
Its really thin metton there and w/o the hard expanding foam inside you'll crack it landing on the side.
Take a block and sand the tray foam smooth & I would suggest to do the lowered tray like the superfreak. You'll end up with a hump in the middle for the pump cavity. trash the stock tray floor and lay it up super thick
