fixing a gas tank

thats what I did...but I made the hole ever so slightly too large....if you wiggle it you can hear the air hiss...

I either need to drill it out for a bigger one, or epoxy the one into place....

5200, or PL adhesive it into place maybe?

PL sticks to ANYTHING.

OR, several wraps of teflon tape?

$4 a tube at lowes, or home depot.

5200 might be better though, since the tank likely flexes alot.
the PL dries rigid.

I would try Gorrilla Glue.... strong as heII, and expands slightly like foam... sticks to anything!

Scuff surfaces as good a possible.

or, seriously.

duct tape over that hole ( it will hold for a WHILE) especially if you put a couple of layers, so the splashing gas deosnt get to the outer edges.

then just drill a new hole for a smaller barbed fitting?

when i taped my kart take for a nipple i have somehtign simmeler and i used 5200.. working so far... :fingerscrossed:

5200 seems to be fuel resistant not sure about the others. 5200 fast cure would be my recomendation, but I also though maybe Threebond as it is also fuel resistant. So if one is more readily avail I would go with that one.

I went to a mx shop and got a valve stem
drilled a hole the tank
Put wire from pick up opening out thru hole
run wire thru opening of valve stem
make a bend in wire
pull valve stem thru hole
tighten nut down over Oring
your done


Not sure if Im clear on this but when you see a valve stem it makes sense

a new tank would cost me OVER 1/4th of what I have in this boat

get some of the 5 minute epoxy for plastics, inject it around the barb fitting, be sure to rough up around the nipple..............
